I''ll definitely call GOG for more information.

http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/3283/

Pavilion angle is 41.09

Someone told me that Diamond with pavilion angles above 41 can sometimes leak light from the edges of the table.

How to see light performance from picture? I totally have no clue.
That is true, IF not well/tightly cut. The DiamXray picture shows no leakage, as this is a very well cut stone. Actually a branded stone that just isn''t advertised as such.

Here''s a tutorial page that should help on how to read the pics.

Light performance is indicated on the AGS report. This is a true hearts and arrows stone, top quality cut. Everything about it is great. However, it is far below your budget and under 2 cts. My suggestion is to call Jonathan and tell him you want a hearts and arrows stone with ideal light performance, E-G color, VVS2 to VS1, and 2.0-2.25 carats. Just let him find you a stone. There may be one available now or you may have to wait a few weeks. But in my opinion, it would be crazy to settle for a smaller, less well cut stone at Tiffany when you could get a larger, better cut stone for your money. Then have the stone sent to Excel to set in the Tiffany replica solitaire. Incidentally, I have a VS1 from GOG and I cannot see any inclusions with a 10x loupe. So I encourage you to consider VS1.

JadyCat, how long do you have until you can no longer return the diamond to Tiffany? Is it a case of you wanting to get another diamond fairly quickly so you can return the Tiffany stone, or would you consider returning that diamond now, and waiting perhaps until a vendor can source you a new diamond, or one comes up? I am just pointing that out in case you are limited in the time you have to return it to Tiffany, you may have to decide to return it and wait until the right diamond comes along perhaps.

My tiffany ring uses legacy setting (round version halo) I have never seen more delicate setting than its original version.
ME1 by Danhov looks okay, but the side view is not delicate at all.

G is also acceptable

Again Thank you for all the support.I''m deeply touched, I should have come to this forum earlier
I am glad u have decided to consider alittle lower color and clarity. Now just let these wonderful people help u find a great stone!! I have no doubt they will!!!

I can wait 2 more weeks to return the ring.According to JA,The diamond price (above 1.5 ct) kept going up recently (15-20% increase),so I don''t want to wait too long to make a decision.

Are you still taking opinions? If so, here's mine. Get a diamond from GoodOldGold and let them set it. Richard Landi has a style similar to the Legacy style which GoodOldGold carries. Here's the link:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/setting/RL-1671/

OK, there's my 2 cents worth!

Yes Any opinions are welcomed ! The setting looks really good,I will call them for more info

I would definitely return the Tiffany ring and go with a Pricescope vendor. I would stop working with JA and work with WF or GOG instead, both of whom have a much better upgrade policy, and offer a lot more information on their diamonds right off the bat.

The Richard Landi setting NeverEnding just posted is stunning, although with your budget, I''d get Leon Mege to make the setting. Here is his web address: ArtofPlatinum.com. His work is amazing, and in my opinion, a setting by Leon Mege is better than any Tiffany ring, without a doubt.

I am not a diamond expert like Ellen, diamondseeker and Lorelei, so I can''t offer much in the way of diamond opinions, but you can be sure that their recommendations are going to be spot on!

Leon Mege is more famous (or more expensive) than Richard Landi?

Actually I have not heard either of them before today.

ME1 by Danhov costs $3600 (PT 950),How about the other two?

Thank you in advance.

I agree totally. Here''s a thread with some of his work. It''s impeccable.

And thank you 2, but I wouldn''t go so far as to say an expert...

Oh, don''t you go being modest on me, Ellen! You know you''ve got mad skills!

judy, depending on how intricate the setting is, from what I''ve heard here on Pricescope, Leon Mege pave settings start probably around $4-5k. Total general ballpark figure, though, as I''ve never gotten a quote from him myself. I think Richard Landi is up there in price, too, but I''d rather have Leon Mege make my ring. His work is just impeccable. Here''s something similar to the Richard Landi setting, but for a round:

I really can''t even begin to pick my favorites from Leon Mege to show you, though...I love all of his work! Definitely check out the rings in the thread Ellen posted, as well as all the rings on Leon Mege''s website.

Can I just say... shame on whomever it was at James Allen that copped a little 'tude when you asked them for an IS image and tried to pressure/guilt you into a purchase of this magnitude.

That is just beyond unacceptable and I would never do business with someone who took that approach with me. Ellen and Lorelei and diamondseeker2006 will take good care of you as will Jon at GOG.

pixley: Thank you for the nice words !

thing2of2 and Ellen:

I already fell in love with several Leon Mege''s settings after going through few pages.

My concern is if I let Leon Meg make my ring,I have to send a loose diamond to his company. Will Fedex/UPS fully insure my diamond.(I was told the value only up to $5000)Since my loose diamond may cost 30k-40k,I''m so worry about it.Do I need to write "diamond" on UPS/Fedex claim form? One of my friends sent her ring (25k)back to bluenile,Bluenile later said they received an empty box without the ring.Of couse.Bluenile refused to refund my friend.UPS refused to pay nothing either.Since the package arrived at Bluenile without damage.

You want to send it through the Post Office, registered and insured. It is kept under lock and key (literally), and signed for each time it changes hands. It''s by far the slowest method, but also by far the safest. You can insure up to 25000.00. I know poeople on here have sent more expensive items than that, but I don''t know what they did as far as insuring the difference. May need to call the PO and ask them, or start a new thread.

Are you not in the US?

I live in CA.

Ok, just wondering. You won''t write on your package what is in it.

Beautiful setting!!

NEVER ship a diamond UPS or Fedex. Only ship it US Mail Registered. UPS and Fedex won''t insure the package for the full value, and as Ellen pointed out, the Registered mail system is very secure. There are strict packing rules, though. You have to wrap your package in plain kraft paper (like a grocery bag) and seal it with paper tape (the kind you get wet) that can get stamped all over with a rubber stamp. That is how they know no one has tampered with it.

Yep, or, they also have certain boxes you can buy (cheap) that don''t need to be wrapped, and they will tape it up for you. What I do is get the box, scotch tape the bottom shut, pack, and take to PO. They then retape the bottom and the rest.

I didn''t do a diamond search for you since it seemed that everyone else has great suggestions, but I wanted to say that I''m sorry you had a bad experience with James Allen. My husband also had a less than positive experience with them, but when I posted about it, I got slammed on this board. So, I''m glad people didn''t do the same to you. Good luck finding the ring of your dreams!

Jady cat,
I''m sorry if I''m repeating others advice here as I haven''t had time to read it all.
However in light of what you said about the way in which JA treated you I would really move on to one of the other PS vendors I listed originally. I think that was a bit inappropriate of them to seemingly try to pressure you like that.

Just for my story, I bought from GOG and it took me a couple months and many many stones called in to make a decision - and this wasn''t even a "big" purchase by anyone''s standards. Not once was GOG short with me or seem like they didn''t want to help me keep looking, and I was very impressed by this.

I would urge you to go to either WF or GOG where the info you need is all available and the service is top notch.

arjunajane:

I''ll call GOG tomorrow.Since they are closed on Monday.I''m glad GOG values their customers.

coda72:

I''m sorry to hear what happened to you.So where did you end up buying from?

jadycat - For shipping to Leon, the jeweler you purchase the diamond from can send it directly to Leon using their own (insured) carrier. Also, you can insure a package with this company http://www.transglobalinsure.com/ for the cost of the diamond and send it UPS/FedEx if you want it to get to Leon faster than USPS. Lastly, not sure if you can insure a loose stone with Chubb, but when I sent my e-ring to Leon for re-setting, Chubb said that it would be covered under my insurance policy if anything happened to it during shipping - so you may want to check with them.

Emeraldfan:

Thank you for the great info ! I really came to the right place to ask questions.I''m so happy everybody is so nice to me.

How did you come to find us anyway? if you don''t mind my asking. We''re always curious about how people end up here.

I came here via a google search.

I looked for information about HCA score, then I discovered this wonderful online community.

Ok, now you''ve really got me curious! Where did you first learn about the HCA?? (most people outside of here have no idea what it is)
