In my last threads (poll), you helped me decide on wearing my U-prong, 5-stone ring as a RHR, instead of stacking it with my e-ring. I am very happy about the decision. Now, while my 5-stone ring is being made, I am already planning for a matching band so I can have the option of a stacked-ring look. I have narrowed down to 5 choices. Please help me choose. Keep in mind about proportion (with respect to my 5-stone ring), style, safety (from damage), and cost. Your votes and comments are much appreciated.

#1 2 mm Honey Channel Set Platinum eternity band from WF, $995

#2 2.7 mm Bead Set Platinum eternity band from WF, $1295

#3 3.0 mm Comfort Fit Scattered Diamond Platinum Band from WF, $1295

#4 2.0 mm 3-Row Doomed Micro-Pave Band, White Gold, from WF, $1195

#5 2.3 mm Channel Set Platinum eternity band from the facets collection, $795

#6 No band. Wear 5-stone ring alone.

My 5-stone ring is platinum U-prong with stones averaging 0.40 ct each.

Thanks for voting. I know I can always count on great advice here.
Another surprise but sound advice to me. Kind of disappointed about not getting anything, but my wallet is happy at least.

Any more votes before I settle for not getting any more bands?

I''m all for more bling

so I can''t really decide between the Honey and the Scattered (I''ve had them both) and love them both, but there is a 1mm difference which is noticeable to me, however, for your five stone, I really feel that it would look outstanding on its own without another band. so I vote no band

D&T,
Thanks for you comments and insight. I went back to look up your previous threads. I must agree with your husband that the thinner (and more blingy) Honey band goes better with your e-ring than the Scattered band. For now, let''s say I wear solo. However, if (and IF

) I decide to get an extra band, which is better, #1 option 2mm Honey or #2 option 2.7mm Bead Set?

I prefer thin band, but I like the bead set design that shows more of the diamond melees. Somehow, I wonder if much of the diamond is covered by the channel setting?

BTW, I am surprised that nobody votes for the less expensive band from the Facets Collection!

Just as I was about to give up getting a matching band (per the poll rsults here), Vera sent me this photo of a 5-stone ring (guess about 30-35 points) with a "Honey" and a 3-Row Doomed Pave band (both 2 mm wide).

Now, I am thinking again.

Perhaps, I should get two bands.

More questions. Should I
1. get two "Honey", or
2. get two "3-Row Doomed Pave", or
3. get one "Honey and one "3-Rwo Doomed Pave", or
4. Again, nothing?

Dug up a photo from some PS lady''s gorgeous 5-stone ring with the 3-Row Doomed Pave band.

hmmmm. tough call, if you were to get two bands... I''d say get both the honey and the pave

You read my mind. I am just not sure if 2 same bands would give a btter look. Then again, the last photo showing the 2 pave bands make me think twice. Perhaps a little too busy.

Wonder if 2 Honey bands would give a better (and cleaner) look?

I think this is really pretty! But it does take emphasis away from the 5 stone. I know your stones will be
bigger so maybe not so much.

EDIT - I forgot to quote the message I was referring to. The 5-stone with the 2 pave rings on either side.

I would maybe get two thin plain white gold bands too to wear with it when you want to tone it down some.

NONE MORE BAND.

I dislike how five-stone bands look stacked with other bands. If you want a wide band stacker look -- skip the five stone. If you want a five-stone, skip the additional sundae toppings. Sure you want butterscotch & sprinkles on TOP of your hot fudge sundae?

When I see stacks like that -- the eye takes in the whole piece as a unit. No part is more "special" than the whole. You EXPECT there to be something "cheap" in the middle. The five-stone gets lost in a bunch of sparkle & isn't appreciated for the stunning solo piece it is.

Its like wearing a Rolex in stack of gold bangles. Some folks do it ... but I say excess is excessive. You CAN have too much of a good thing.

Very good points. Wise and sound advice.

Defintely get a five stone ring. Both the 5-stone and 3-stone rings are no brainers to me. On the contrary, I have much trouble deciding on the stacked/matching bands, for some of the reasons pointed out above by fellow PSers.

By themselves, meaning just one band alone, I like the 3-row doomed pave band the most. It catches my attention immediately, keeps singing to me, and keeps nagging me, "take me, take me". As for the other bands, they do not grasp my attention as much, and I have to think hard to see that they fit. Of course, I still have some minor reservations about the 3-row pave band. The major one is whether of not it truely complements my 5-stone ring.

No plain bands for me. I just love diamonds.

I quite like the honey band as it is more simple and does not draw away from your beautiful 5 stone ring :)
What is your e-ring and wedder like?

mrs k,
I do not have any welder or wedding band. My original wedding band was a simple platinum band which I have not worn for ages. My 5-stone ring will be my new wedding band which I plan to wear daily. It is being custom made. The only photo I have is one very similar, except that my stones are bigger (almost 2 cttw vs. 1.20 cttw in the photo). The closeup photo that shows a 5-stone U-prong ring with the 3-row domed pave band (a few posts above) has diamonds total about 1.51 cttw. You need to use your imagination to visualize the size.

I plan to wear my 5-stone ring either as a RHR or LHR, but not with my e-ring. The question is whether or not to pair it up with one or two thin bands. Since the majority of the votes tells me no band, I shall wait until I get my 5-stone band and wear it for a while before deciding if I want extra matching bands. As much as I love the look of the 3-row domed pave band, I am worried about its safety (scratching/damaging adjacent ring/diamonds) and durability (stones falling out because of pave). Therefore, I am leaning towards the 2mm Honey channel band. The only reservation I have with this band from Whiteflash is that it costs too much for such a tiny band with only 0.30 cttw 1-point melees. Honestly, I wonder if I would see anything particularly sparkling from a 1-pointer ACA as compared to something say from BlueNile.

This is a picture of my 3-stone e-ring. The smart PSers have already advised me not to pair it with any extra bands. This is why I have decided to wear my 5-stone band on the opposite hand if I want to wear both rings at the same time.

My 3-stone ring pear sides.jpg

I like the honey band because of how thin it is and I just have a thing for the scattered stone bands. But really I don't think your 5 stone needs anything at all!

I would have picked the facet band but it is so much thicker than the honey and that's important if you want it for stacking.

Now if you want a band to go with your 3 stone you could do a curved band with tiny diamonds. I saw that on a lady this week and it was very nice and didn't take away from her ering.

HTH

I voted no band. I think the ring will be beautiful by itself.
