OK pricescopers. I recently got back my CAD images for my ring design. However, in a pleasant surprise, the designer threw in an option for orienting the prongs in a north/south/east/west AKA compass AKA kite manner.

After seeing the option, I went online and searched for similar designs, and there were a few from Leon Mege that had been set in this four prong compass style head with his lovely claw prongs that seemed nice.

My girlfriend is a quirky traditionalist (think Anthropologie clothing), and the idea of a unique four prong head design is intriguing. So, pricescopes vote for your fav and tell me why!

The stone will be a 1.5-2 carat RBC stone if that makes any difference to people's vote.

Nice design! I prefer the compass/kite design because its more unique. Either way would look beautiful, but I like how the prong detail is more noticeable on the compass setting.

Compass was my vote!

I also prefer the kite orientation. I would also have the jeweler split the prongs at the top too (double claw). That would look lovely I think!

I prefer traditional for 4 prongs. I'd do 6 prongs if I wanted prongs at N and S.

Thanks for the votes everyone. I think I am going to stick to the tried and true. It's the more conservative choice, and really while the compass setting my be a real home run for my girlfriend, I KNOW she loves the four prong setting in the traditional orientation. Esp. since the voting was close, I think I am throwing in my final thumbs up for the traditionla design. Will keep people informed.

I think with Compass Style, parts of the diamond look bare.

You know what'd be real cool is a 5-prong. I'd really like to see a 5-prong tiffany solitaire.

FYI Brian Gavin has a ring that looks very similar to what's in your CAD. http://youtu.be/IyQzVWL368E
