Also, is Monsieur Mege the only go to guy?

Harriett, I may be missing your question, but I''m game.

I know you know these guys. I''m a little confused, as the opening screen shows a cost of $180, but then linking get it to $450.

Much good press goes to Excel, here.

Not to threadjack...but kcoursolle, I noticed that you post about Knox at LOT, and I know you live in Minneapolis where they are right? We're headed there for a short trip just for fun, is it worth tracking down their store?

The nicest, simplest solitaire I have seen is indeed that one that BostonJeff got by LM. LOVE IT. By far my favorite.

BUT I think you could get something super simple and a lot cheaper from WF. Knox jewelers also has some great looking solitaires on their website as well as kcoursolle pointed out. I like those too.

I loooove this Cartier solitaire.

I''ve never had any custom jewelry made, but for something like this, I''d be over the moon to have either Mr. Mege or Mr. Morrell create me a masterpiece.

Ira,
The $180 is for white gold, but the $450 is for platinum. I''ve been confused before too.

Thanks for the Excel suggestion.

Oh please. You know he is. Only the best for Harriet. Why even bother going down this road -- unless you enjoy the banter. Wait ... never mind.
I don''t know that LM is the master. I''ve heard glowing reviews of Mark Morrell, and just spoke with him. This is my final setting, so I need the due diligence.
Only the best for me? Why, thank you!

I had a great conversation with Mark Morrel earlier, so I''m glad to have alternatives.

I *do* think so. You have very specific, very high-end tastes. Leon is king around here for custom & nothing else is ever going to sound "better". It seems like a silly road to go down when the answer is so CLEAR.

As to what design ... solitares are not my bag, baby -- discuss away.

Would that the answer were that clear! What "sounds" better may not be what's best. At any rate, I'm glad I unearthed another name.

don't you already own the simplest solitaire setting there basically is?

I don''t think so. Look at Boston Jeff''s.

Yours is just as simple. Just a different simple.

Let''s try "Please show me the simplest solitaire setting with the least amount of metal."

This is for your round, no? Not the new colored stone? I like your current solitaire. What are you looking for? Basket? Four prongs (pssst say no)? Six prongs? Eight? Double prongs? I like the Cartier that was posted. I love the Harry Winston with double prongs...Have you seen the oval with double prongs *swoon*? What about a three stone?

A couple of .75s would look mighty blingy

! Very understated.

Jeff, are there any side views of your ring? It is gorgeous, but I really have no idea what the setting looks like from the side.

It is for my round. It was going to be a temporary stone, but with the way prices are going, it won''t be. So, I''d like it reset. That way, I can find the matching band. I like my current solitaire from the front, but it''s a little too busy for me around the basket. I do like the symmetry of 6 prongs, but am open to suggestions. I like that Cartier too. I haven''t seen the HW. Show me, please? As for a 3 stone, no more stones for now, remember?

Heehee, I''m leaning that way too. Was Leon ok to work with?

Here''s the catalogue version with a 3ct stone...

It is cathedral, but it is very slight and delicate... so much so that you can barely see it in the picture.

For side views of my setting, you all might have to wait a few days...

We are waiting patiently.

Did you just spell "catalogue" with a "u" and and "e?"

I see that you no longer think I warrant the best.

Harry Winston is too smart for me. I can''t post a link or pic from his site. I''d go to the store and have a look. You can see if you like a basket setting or just prongs. I do love Boston Jeff''s setting, too. Four double claw prongs would be heaven to me. Are you wanting a plain metal band? Or eternity? Or half eternity? I always hate that term when referring to a wedding band...Like if you only have a half eternity your marriage will only last half an eternity - hehe. I''ll keep working on the HW link or pic.

The double prongs became a must-have for me, but that was for a cushion (and an old-style in particular). But I do like the look of the double-claws on rounds as well, and prefer that to 6-prong styles.

Harriet, if you can wait a week or so, I will have tons of pictures of my ring for you, and would be happy to take a few requests from you if you wanted to see the setting from a certain angle or if you had other questions.
