Here's the catalogue version with a 3ct stone...
It is cathedral, but it is very slight and delicate... so much so that you can barely see it in the picture.
For side views of my setting, you all might have to wait a few days...

Harriet! I really like this setting Jeff suggested.I know you were asking someone on another thread about this setting before so I know you are interested!
Your big rock is going to really shine with this setting!!! Before I get too excited, though, let me check out ''the others'' that PSers are putting on the table! For a true master piece, however, I strongly recommend Leon!!!
Had I known about him before I started lurking on this site, I would have gone with him too! Not that I regret my decision now...![]()

PS I still vote for the LEON setting after viewing everything on the table so far. Not that the others aren''t beautiful... it''s just that I am in love with Leon. Frankly, I have developed a little bit of an obsession with man named LEON ever since I first lay my eyes on his rings!!!![]()
Thanks, Jeff. I''m looking for your profile.Date: 5/12/2007 2:21:59 AM

Here it is... to me it looks *too* thin without the ''jackets'' (eternity bands)...
and, it is either built up or very fragile... my guess is the former, so it depends what type of profile you are looking for, Harriet.

I would assume that rings purpose is to allow two bands to be worn with it without being too wide on the finger. I don''t see any inherent beauty in that design on it''s own. Leon''s designs certainly are art. I''d go with Leon or Maytal right now if I wanted a delicate setting. Mark Morrell is good for a set like JadeLeaves has. Oh, and I would have the wedding band made at the same time for two reasons. One, so that it goes perfectly with the e-ring, and two, so that I wouldn''t later have to send my e-ring back to him if the w-band was made later.

Hi Harriet,
I have worked with Leon and he was VERY nice. I live on Long Island so I took the train into the city and met with him at his office on 47th. He sat with me, made a sketch of the ring and asked me specific questions about my likes and dislikes with respect to the shank shape and also offered me his opinion on what he felt will look best. He said that he prefers not to do double claw prongs on small stones (mine is 1.2), but that he would do it if that is what I wanted (I chose not to have them), then we went over the work order which has specific boxes to check that detail the important aspects of the design- I signed it and paid my deposit. He told me to e-mail him in four weeks for a progress report, which I did-it took a week to get a response but the response was your ring is finished!!! So, it took a total of five weeks. I have not seen the finished ring as I can not take time off from work to go and get it, but I asked for a picture and I should be picking it up on 5/25 I am just waiting for a confirmation on that date.
Everyone at his office was very nice, and he was also very nice and helpful. I would definately work with him again-infact I may have him re-do an eternity band for me I will discuss it with him when I pick up my ring.
My only regret was that I didn''t get to see any of the ''for sale'' items, and of course I was too much of a chicken to ask!!! Maybe when I go back I will work up th nerve-but I doubt it as I was so nervous and excited the first time I went...it was like meeting a celebrity!!!
I think your stone would look beautiful in that Leon setting!!!!!
The date was when I initially started seeking, but the name is still accurate!Date: 5/12/2007 11:42:24 AM

Thanks for throwing in another name. I am going to have the wedding band made at the same time.
P.S. Isn''t your moniker a little outdated?![]()

Hey Harriet,
I still vote for just going with Leon but when I was at Michael B''s store in Cal. they did have a plain solitaire setting. It was very lovely. I didn''t pay too close attention b/c I don''t want a plain solitaire setting but I did ask to see it b/c I always associate Michael B with pave settings and I didn''t know he''d even make a plain solitaire. You could probably have a retailer in your area get one in for you to look at. As a designer, Michael b is one of my all time favorites...

It''s really pretty, but I''d like the shank and the bottom to be the same narrow width. Fussy Harriet.![]()

Harriet, You''re no bother at all. I think some folks are just confused as to why there is such doubt in your mind about Leon. He is local for you, one of the best custom guys around and a no brainer for most of us who are familar with is work. Nothing wrong with exploring your options, heck I''ve got multiple threads on different settings I was considering at one time or another. but, what you want is very specific and very simple, it seems silly to keep going around a tree that on PS, is going to bring you right back to where you started, which is why not just go with Leon. Was there something in the conversation you had with him that makes you not want to work with him? If so, just say so, so folks can stop refering you to him and start looking into the other names that were thrown out. Unfortunately, there just aren''t that many custom folks i''d personally feel comforable with and you already know the one''s that get rave reviews here. anyway, please don''t feel that you are a bother but do tell us more if there is more we should know

I dunno - I kinda disagree with this. I actually prefer Mark Morrell''s work, and he does all the work himself.....unlike Leon.Date: 5/11/2007 7:36:58 PM

Leon is king around here for custom & nothing else is ever going to sound ''better''.

To me, Leon is not the only logical choice.
Yikes! I daren't go that thin. I was advised 1.8-2 is as thin as I should go.Date: 5/12/2007 12:34:25 AM

Harriet I am so LAZY about going through old threads but if you do a search I am sure her's will come up. I think it is only 1 mm wide.
To me, that''s a huge piece of the puzzle. If communication isn''t fluid in the custom process, the end result could potentially suffer.Date: 5/12/2007 2:54:57 PM

I did have an uncomfortable conversation with Leon (I''d rather not go into specifics) versus a great one with Mark Morrell.
