Working on a railway upgrade today and had to lift an old piece of timber fence post from somewhere I needed to put some stakes. When I lifted it I got a little bit of a surprise; these 2 baby Brown Snakes were curled up under the timber and sleeping. The one in the top left of the pic got really cranky with me and started to hiss and spit which is a warning that they feel threatened and to leave it alone.
Given that they're the 2nd deadliest snake in the world and the babies like this are more dangerous than the adults I was more than happy to do so
