Hi!

I've owned this RB lab diamond for a few years. I bought it from Brilliant Earth and chose their cheapest setting thinking I would reset it. I'm now wondering if this rock is worth a high quality reset or if it would be better saved for a pendant or earrings. It's a beautiful stone but I'm not *thrilled* with the sparkle and fire and wondering if I can do significantly better at the same carat weight. Specifically, I'm wondering if the clouds throughout the crown might be impacting light performance. Any thoughts on the photo and lab cert would be much appreciated!

The proportions are great, so in theory it should be a great performer. It may very well be that the cloud throughout the crown is impacting performance. We generally recommend to stay away from stones with clouds as the primary inclusion. Or it could be that you might prefer a stone with a taller crown (which results in more fire).

Lab diamond prices have come down quite a bit in the last few years, so if funds allow, I love your idea of saving it for a pendant or earrings and getting a better stone for your ring.

Wha kind of lighting do you view it under the most?

Thanks very much for responding! I usually view it either inside under warm pot lights, where the diamond sparkles the most, or outside in natural light where it doesn't really sparkle but there is some fire.

That sounds normal.
Full sunlight is not good lighting for seeing brightness or sparkle but it can put on a fire show on things around it.
Shaded sunlight or under a moving tree are a different story.
