I lost my wedding ring Natalie K 8724 w with the wedding band added. It had a 1.2 EGL usa certified center stone. I had it insured and my insurance company doesn't pay out, they replace with "equal or better". I'm fine with this since I really just want my ring back but since I think my baby flushed it I will settle with something that looked just like it. My issue is the diamonds they are offering as center stone. The first was EGL hong kong and was so rectangular that it was more emerald cut and wouldn't fit it my Natalie K setting. I refused that one and had my jeweler call to plead my case. Now they are offering these 2 to chose from and I don't get to see them in person or even a decent picture:

EGL us906823903d
1.20 cts.
Color G clarity VS2
6.21 x 5.65x 4.21
depth 74.5
table 75
crown height 6.4% (i'm concerned about this, my old diamond had a crown of 10% which is in the ideal range)
pavilion height 65.3
crown angle 35.4%
pavilion angle 40.5%
girdle: thin to thick
polish Very Good
Symmetry Very Good

GIA 2155525616
1.2cts
Color G Clarity VS2
6.15 x 5.69 x 4.03
Depth 70.9
Table 75
girdle: slightly thick to very thick
polish Very Good
Symmetry Good (this is not as good as my old diamond)

they don't offer crown height or angle nor pavilion height or angle so I have no idea how it compares to my old stone.

My old stone:
1.2 cts
Color G Clarity VS2
6.05 x 5.40 x 4.11
depth 76.1
table 72
crown height 10%
pavilion depth 61%
Girdle: slightly thick
polish Very Good
Symmetry Very Good

My stone was slight rectangular but looked nice in my setting, depth was higher than other above but table was smaller. I got to see this diamond before my husband purchased and chose it because I liked the way it sparkled compared to the others we were considering, it had great fire/brilliance. I'm concerned about picking one of these with out ever seeing it, will is sparkle as good? Also the girdle on both but especially the GIA one concerns me but I'm not an expert so not sure if it is good or bad or what is ideal.

Please help if any of you are experts or really informed on this cut, what diamond will sparkle as well or better then my old one or should I keep fighting with my insurance company to go find something else?

An EGL stone clearly isn't "equal or better" unless it's at least 1 grade better in color/clarity (for EGL-USA) or 3-4 grades better in color/clarity (for EGL-I).

I don't think you should be forced to choose a stone that you can't see. You have no idea whether the GIA stone you list will be as appealing as the one you lost. For instance, it's VS2 rated, but all of the inclusions (including a surface cavity) are on the table, so it may not be eye clean to your definition. The stone is shallower, so the dimension is larger than your old diamond, but it might be too shallow and return light poorly. There's no way to know without an ASET, seeing it in person, videos, or thorough photos.

Thanks, I know GIA has a better reputation but it still may not be as pretty as my EGL was with the dimensions they are giving. The only way in which I can see the diamond before selection is to take the amount of $ they are offering. They (USAA insurance) will only pay out what they could buy the diamond at wholesale and the amount they quoted me is not even close to what my husband paid 5 years ago for the diamond he got me.

Oh, sorry, I assumed your stone was GIA.

If you don't mind my asking, what are they saying is the wholesale price for a 1.2ct G VS2 princess?

They said 4620 for the egl and 5200 for the GIA.

So what will they pay??? The $4620 or the $5200? I suggest you look on James Allen to see what you can get. Most of their
Stones are GIA so you will have to drop down from an EGL G to a GIA I /J Most likely. I would hate buying a fancy cut stone
That I could not see.
