I posted this in newlyweds for pictures... but maybe some of you already have online pics of your mom''s dress. Please post pics and ideas!!!

the mother''s are asking me what they should wear and I am having a hard time trying to communicate options. Please show me what your mother''s are wearing for ideas! One mom is 72 years old and a bit on the heavier side and the other is early 60''s so needs to be age appropriate for both. we are not doing tuxes, but groom, etc. will be in black suits with ties and the bridal party wearing chiffon type of cocktail looking dresses, not long. wedding is at 5 pm, garden ceremony, and reception at a rather fancy Spanish style Inn.

Help! Thx.

I don't have any pics sorry, but I just had my mother and MIL choose whatever dress they were comfortable wearing. I asked only that they wear the bridal party color of navy. I did the same with my MOH and flower girls. I wanted everyone to be comfortable with their dress choice and feel pretty in whatever they chose. They all looked lovely. I had black tie so they all chose long but for your wedding I think any length that was comfortable for them would be appropriate.

That is what I told them... wear anything they like. However, they want me to send pics of what i IMAGINED them wearing. Ugh. I dont know how to dress a 72 year old! She requests "sleeves." Ok....

LOL I feel for you. That's precisely why I told them whatever they wanted because everyone feels comfortable in different dresses. Especially older women! I don't think either my mom or MIL went to any traditional places to find their dresses. No bridal places etc Just regular dept stores. I am so sorry that I don't have any photos on my computer. I have such limited photos here and I would love to share more pics but I am computer challenged.

I definitely vote for sleeves on older women in general LOL
In fact, soon enough that will be my preference too

Why don't you suggest they look through bridal magazines where they MOB etc sections where they can get ideas or look online as there are lots of photos there?
Here are some online suggestions:

Maybe they''re looking for color suggestions. Maybe that would give them some place to start in their search.

Aside from that, I think it''s kind of hard to dictate a style without going out and shopping either with or without them and seeing what''s out there on the racks. Would they be willing to go to places like Saks, Bloomingdale''s, Nieman Marcus and just trying something on? I think that''s the best thing that works for people who don''t already have an idea of what they want to wear.

I searched the typical department store websites... but nothing super impressed me. And I said they could do any color they want... so that gives them way too many choices as well. The dresses either look too formal or too sexy. i had a hard enough time picking MY dress...

Here''s a link from a few months ago:

Have they checked out the websites themselves to see if anything has tickled their fancy? It sounds like they will have to go out and look and see what''s out there. Are you in any position to take them out or accompany them on a trip to a few stores?
Your wedding is around the corner.

sounds like a tough position for you Green with Envy - I second the idea of taking them to some shops (if you can) and having them try on some options..
