Please help with feedback on the brilliants

Hello pricescope members,
I am rather new to diamond searching but have been reading quite a lot.
After doing my research I was able to narrow my search down to two stones: round and pear. I have setting decided for both (yellow gold), so want to make sure there isn't anything in the details I am missing. 4Cs seem to be good on both, except colour - which I hope could be mitigated by YG.

The round should be a very nice stone. For the pear you need to request an aset image from JA to determine the light return.
They will do up to 3 free of charge. Pears are not easy to pick. They will show more color than a round. They wont have the
light return of a round. This one does have a lovely shape and pears usually do face up large for their weight but when people
buy pears it because they love the shape and are willing to take a hit on the light return compared with a round. Just want
to make sure you realize this.

No real indication from your GF of what shape she likes better? Is there anyone you might be able to ask? I am a pear lover
(see avatar) but I know they are not for everyone.

Edit ...like F-gal said, a J pear is probably going to show a little color in the tip.

Hoping that yellow gold will help offset the K colour of the brilliant. Is that true? Do you think 0.72 will be too small to stand out enough?

Regarding the pear, your feedback is much apprecited. To be honest I don't know whether my girlfriend is into the shape. She likes bigger, unique stones which brought me down the fancy cut path a little. With all the complications you listed I will probably reconsider, given my lack of info.

I think the .72 round will be a nice size, unless she has very large fingers. One thing to think about is the pave on that setting might contrast with the K color- it will likely be fine, but I want to mention it.

A pear will have more "finger coverage" just looking at the dimensions. Here's another pear, I don't know anything about pears technically speaking, but it sure looks nice:

Hi Anton - people have different opinions about what type of metal helps "whiten" a warm-colored stone, but my thought with this setting (which is beautiful!) is if you think she'd prefer a white appearance in the center stone, the F-G sidestones in the setting might make a K center stone's color realy stand out by contrast... I've read on here and been told by jewelers to try to stay within 2 color grades for a more uniform look (so an I center)... something to consider!

I confirmed with JA that I could replace the pave stones on the setting with lower grade diamonds. Would you recommend to change those to I-J to make sure they don't contrast K coloured centre stone too much?

It will be stretching the budget, so want to make sure the option with J coloured pave stones will not work.

I'm pretty sensitive to color so my fiance and I actually went slightly down in size to get less color - but that's REALLY subjective - some people really like the honey color of a warm diamond, some people don't perceive color as much as others and others find H-I-J-K stones that face up really white! do you know if your GF has a clear preference on this? I just raised the issue of pave contrasting with the center stone because it seemed like you were concerned about seeing color... getting side stones in a closer range will definitely make the overall appearance more uniform and contrast less, but I don't know that it would make the whole ring look whiter if that's what you're going for. If you want whiter, moving up a grade or two to be safe is a good idea if your budget allows and, as slg47 said, you could go with a simpler setting instead of raising your overall budget...

Hopefully, the excellent symmetry and polish will help offset the K colour - will give more info once received.
