Hello, everyone!

Try to get my wife a ring for our 10 year anniversary gift, couldn't afford one when we got married :( .

Found one from James Allen:

How is it? I'm trying to control the budget under 15k and this one is bit over it (with setting everything). Can you guys recommend one around 1.5-1.6 C?

Any advice for this setting as well?

Thanks a lot!!

The reason it's so expensive is your E colour. Have you seen diamonds in person and do you know what your lowest colour is?

A well cut stone H will face up very white, with very slight tint not noticible to most from the side. It would be very difficult to see tint especially with a bright setting like that. You have a healthy budget for your size. I suggest dropping the colour to an H/G

this seems like a great stone (super ideal):

If you dropped to excellent selection you can get to 1.7 within budget (still a beautiful stone)

With regards to st1, they are marked as eyeclean.

Hi Jamesylei,

I cannot recommend specific stones as I'm in the trade and the forum rules don't permit it. My recommendation would be to search for diamonds once you have established some basic criteria.

For example, as gm89uk pointed out, some people find an E color a bit of overkill for an engagement ring, many are happy with an H, I or diamonds with even more color. Clarity is very similar - if you want "eye-clean" , VS2 is a good place to start. But you can also look for eye-clean SI1 - not common, but certainly possible (Do check with your retailer to determine how they define eye-clean).

Once you have defined your 'minimum' criteria, you can play with color and clarity grades to get more carat weight for a similar budget if desired. If you spend much time on PS you will find that most people wouldn't recommend compromising on cut.

After you have done your research you can post some options here and the PS community will be very happy to help :)
