Please help with a Diamond I saw yesterday

Hi all,

I am brand new to this whole thing, looking for an engagement ring for the first time. I went to a store owned by a relative of a close friend yesterday, and saw the following diamond:

GIA Report 1109254754

Princess Cut
Carat - 1.51
Color - H
Clarity - VS2
Polish - Very Good
Symmetry - Good
Fluorescence - None

The diamond does not have a cut grade but I took a picture of the dimensions (below). My two questions are, is this a good diamond? If so, I was quoted a price of 8,000, is that a good price?

Unfortunately we cant tell enough from a grading report to tell you if it's a good stone or not.
FOr princess cuts we need aset images and pictures. Do you have any to post?
The price seems about right compared to other H VS2 stones

the Symmetry is only graded GOOD. this stone may not be square.

Symmetry as listed on the report refers to facet meet points, off centered tables, off centered culets, etc. Without more information its impossible to say if it is an issue or not.

You could purchase a hand held ASET device and use it to view the stone yourself. You could also take photos yourself and post them here.

I'll second that purchasing from friends or family often doesn't end well.
