Hi !
I was wondering about this natural diamond if anyone can help and tell me more about it?
It’s 6.44ct j color i1 round brilliant
12.15-12.24-7.22mm
Cut , polish, Symmetry- very good
Florescence none
Comments: Clouds are not shown and pinpoints and not shown
Also what would it be worth it ?
I also have 2 videos but it’s not letting me to attach it for some reason

Thank you for all your help!FA6CACB1-733A-4550-B509-D3C5ED80612B.jpeg

It does not look well cut, and it has a flat top, with the low crown height and the table being larger than the depth.

I completely agree with @Kim N. And I'll also add - an SI1 on a diamond of that size can make for very noticeable inclusions.

However - if your main goal is a big diamond and your budget doesn't stretch to cleaner/better cut/whiter - then this might be just the ticket for you.

Definitely one to see in person before making a decision - but make sure you see it in ALL lights.

Definitely not well cut. But maybe you don't care about that and are going to size over everything.

The diamond looks bad by the numbers and diagram. And I1 is rarely pretty. But 6.44 carats sounds awesome. If you let us know your budget and what specs you want and what you are trying to get the most of (size? Cut?), we can try to help you.

Thank you so much for all your help!
I just want to make sure it has fire and not too cloudy and not too yellowish
I won it on the auction so didn’t see it yet
Asking for more videos with different lighting now

Also they told me inclusions are not dark they are white and I can see that in close up video

Not sure about fire since it's not well cut. And a J will look tinted (although color is subjective).

I don't think it will be very fiery, as the proportions favor brightness over fire.

I personally wouldn't be as worried about color (and I'm a color snob) as I would be about its light performance and its clarity/inclusions. I personally would not buy an I1 clarity (unless maybe it was a true antique stone), even if it were well cut which this one is not. I have owned a beautiful K color before but it was a top notch cut.

I'm not trying to be harsh, just truthful.

Is it possible to attach or email videos of it ? I have 4 videos in different lighting ..it looks like it does sparkle well? ..but I don’t have the professional eye and would love to hear your guys professional opinion from those videos
I think it is a antique stone (not the best cut) they probably just got GiA paperwork done for the auction 2 months ago
I really do like the size of it

Also is anyone know what would the resale price be for this stone ?

You’ll need to post the videos to a hosting site like imgur or YouTube. Then post a link here.

Got it
Thank you!

For the sake of honesty I'll just give you my straight opinion: this stone won't sparkle much. You can see it from the videos. It won't have much fire and the inclusions are very noticible. The chances of you being able to resell for what you purchased it for are also quite low, unfortunately. Is there any way to cancel your bid? I truly wouldn't recommend buying this.

It certainly is not the best cut diamond in the world but bear in mind that for a perfect cut diamond of that size you would pay a fortune. So if the price was ok, I think you‘re fine. In the video you can see the inclusion very clearly. If that is not bothering you, you‘re fine. If you were after a perfect diamond with all the fire in the world you can get, you won‘t get it with this one. If you want a big diamond and payed a reasonable price for it, you‘re fine. It might not be perfect but there is also worse out there. As I said, it depends on the price. As for future purchases, make sure to see the stone in person.

I see those inclusions and because it’s light I don’t think it’ll bother me as much

The lady on the phone said :
-that it’s pretty
-that it looks j color but from the top it looks good facing up
-that you can see the inclusions close up but it’s a light inclusions and not dark

With all their fees and taxes it ended up 42k … should I go for it ?
I did look online for 6+ct natural diamond and the prices are so much more ! ..that’s why I’m here looking for your honest opinion/advise and help
Thank you so much !

There are so many issues I don’t know where to begin…
Girdle too thin
Cut quality
Clarity grade
Color readily apparent in that size
Table larger than depth
As @lovedogs said, it is not going to sparkle - that’s evident in the videos.
I am sorry to say this but you came here for advice and I don’t want you to throw away money: this diamond is a dog.
People will look at it and say to themselves and amongst each other that you went for size and nothing else because basically that is all this stone is about. And on that note, rounds generally stop being attractive beyond a certain size and this stone has surpassed that point.
Honestly, I’m angry at the sales associate for telling you that it is nice. They are taking advantage of the fact you don’t know any better. So wrong.
We are here to help you from making a bad decision.
Please look for something smaller and higher color and higher clarity and better cut… and don’t shop there!

If you can cancel this, I would. Then take more time to learn about diamonds before purchasing one, especially before spending that much. There's a lot of expertise on here to help you out. Good luck.

Do you guys think this 6.44 ct i1 stone worth recutting with south west diamond cutters? I did reached out to them to get all the details
Or it’s already at its price limit ? and not worth the money at all ?

Ps I’m not looking for the Tiffany standard diamond
love the size of it

I'm not sure it's a candidate for recuttinfg with all of the inclusions. But if you can't cancel the order then that's probably a decent option. Either way I can pretty much guarantee it's not worth what you paid.

Why did you buy it? For yourself? For someone else? Or to resell?

Do you have the option of not purchasing? If you do, absolutely cancel.

You will not be able to resell it in future without taking a bath. I’m sorry to say.

Also post the full report - I’m curious about the comments. It’s unusual for crystals that substantial to all be white (not impossible but unusual), I want to see if the stone has been drilled before I opine on pricepoint.

It doesn’t say anything about drilling

I believe if I choose not to pay for my winning lot they will flag my profile on that platform for future biddings etc

You might be able to recut to improve performance but no guarantees (inclusions aren’t pavilion-side but at some point inclusions are inclusions). You’d lose a substantial amount of weight recutting.

What were you looking to get by posting here @ACDC? You bid on the stone before posting here, won it, and you don’t have a return option - what are you looking for from us given that it’s now “after the fact”?

Personally I would do pretty much anything to not pay 40k+ for that stone. Including sacrifice my ability to participate in future auctions. But you bought it, so you ARE willing to pay that much for it, so… What can we help with?

Slightly contrarian view (and I am not a diamond expert but know about cut and color in colored stones): If you are not a diamond connoisseur, it will appear to "sparkle" a lot. It is an enormous natural diamond in an acceptable color and perhaps-acceptable clarity.

For context, I had a poorly-cut diamond refashioned into a near-ideal cut by a PS-recommended vendor who did a masterful job. I thought it was lovely after the re-cut -- but it was very pretty before. I'm not sure my spouse could notice the difference and she has a discerning, if inexpert, eye.

I'm guessing it will knock you out when you get it and you will need to decide on the acceptability of the clarity.
