I''m confused about which setting to get for a 3/4 carat round stone, and would appreciate suggestions. My finger size is 4.75 or 5.
From what I have seen online (and the store) I like a thin band with tiny diamonds encircling part (or all) of the band. We''re looking to spend $500-$1000. I tried on a beaded micropave at the jewelers and liked it. I''ve seen things I like online called pave, micropave, beaded, and shared prong. I''m not completely clear on the differences though... Anyway, here are my questions:
1) I''ve noticed that some of the micorpave and other settings I like online say "cathedral" or "open cathedral." Like this one:

I''m not sure if the setting I tried on in the store was cathedral (if it was it was not very pronounced). Would a cathedral setting overpower a 3/4 carat stone? What are the differences between cathedral styles?
I guess I''m looking for pics or advice about how a cathedral versus regular setting on a pave/shared prong band would visually affect the ring. I''ve been looking for pics of rings on the hand to compare a cathedral micropave/shared prong with a regular mircopave/shared prong, but haven''t been able to find much.
2) If I get a micropave or shared prong e-ring setting, as opposed to channel or solitaire, do I have to worry about whether the wedding ring will fit if I don''t get a matching set? Would a thin plain band or another micropave band look mis-matched? My boyfriend wants to pick out the setting himself and we would get the wedding bands later.
Thanks!!
