I'm looking for another option for a setting like this. It's the De Beers Classic setting. My lady likes this design very much, but De Beers is extremely overpriced. Any one know where I can get a similar setting and not pay the premium on the diamond? They do not sell the setting separate unfortunately. Thanks!

Look at Stuller settings. If you are in the states, I would call ID jewelry in New York. That is a very easy to replicate setting and should run between 1100- 2K depending on what metal you would want it to be.
Almost every vendor that you can find listed here will have that style setting.

A quick search on their website shows this one, which is similar except in the way the head goes into the bottom band...but the print catalog is about 4” thick, so I think if you email this to IDJ or go into a store that is one of their distributors you’ll be able to find one even closer. Have fun on your search!

Thanks guys, we still can't seem to find one she likes. De Beers marks up the diamond so much, and doesn't sell the setting separate. Ugh

Explain (or show her) what size diamond you could get her in the debeers setting and what size you could get her at whiteflash for your budget. If she still wants the debeers then at least you tried.

Any good bench could replicate that setting, though there is I guess an “unwritten or written ” rule amongst jewelers that they don’t “exactly” copy a setting, especially if a design is “copyright”.
You won’t get much for your hard earned dollars at DeBeers as you’ve discovered, you could get more diamond at the same diamond quality in a ever so slightly different setting elsewhere. That said, if your beloved wants DeBeers, buy DeBeers.

Guys, so if I were to purchase a pre-owned De Beers setting with a smaller diamond on it (.40), could I replace the diamond from an independent vendor (1.4) and have it resized?

Going from 0.4 to 1.4 ct is a big change in mm diameter. Usually, the tolerance to reset a diamond is much smaller (often a couple mm, ask your jeweler for your particular setting) without replacing the head entirely.

Does anyone know any body who works at De Beers who could get me the setting?

What about this one? It's by CvB a popular jeweler here who does custom settings. Prices are very reasonable. This was actually my ring, lol.

Finally found a setting the lady likes:
https://www.brilliance.com/engagement-rings/taper-solitaire-ring-white-gold

Looking to get a diamond from that site (brilliance.com).
Budget is 5k, looking for a round diamond between 1-2ct, or any that you guys recommend. Pretty open to it, but of course trying to go as big as possible and have it still look nice. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I would just find a diamond from one of the trusted vendors and buy the setting only from that site.

I really think the quality of the one posted by @ILikeShiny is superior, but it will each into your budget much more.

This is in budget and the largest I can find. Its J color with great angles. I'd put this on hold ASAP while we look for additional options.

The color looks off, but its really just the video. Though I do think it is more of a brown than yellow body color, which I actually prefer. You'll need to ask for an IS, but hold off until we look for more choices.

Has your girl looked at GIA graded diamonds to determine her color sensitivity? You'll need to be looking at J color to get over 1 carat within budget.

Hello, everyone. Natasha-Cupcake emerging from lurk-dom with a warning-- Please, Korindian, be careful ordering from brilliance.com. They have a 30 day return policy but the clock starts ticking on the day you PLACE the order, NOT the day you receive the item. This information is buried in the fine print, while "30 Day Return!" is splashed all over their website. I ordered a $400 band from them. I didn't receive it until almost three and a half weeks after the order date, two days before Christmas. I decided I didn't like the ring and called to ask for a return authorization. I was told I'd receive the authorization number in an email, but I never received any emails. I called a second time two days later, and was told I couldn't return it because it was out of the 30 day return period. At this point, I was directed to the fine print. Boy, was I ticked off! I had the ring in my possession for only 5 days--2 of those days being Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!-- before that final phone call and now I'm stuck with a ring I don't like. Thank God I didn't order a diamond from them!
