Please help me with my engagement ring, PEAR shape

Hi Everyone,

Need your help and feedback here. I trust the knowledgable experts here, as I am comepletely nervous and don't want to regret my decision.

I had the chance to check out my family friends jewlery store. Please give me your feedback for this potential engagement ring for my GF!! In person the .9 CT/si1/g colour looked great. I did notice a slight bowtie effect if I titled a certain way, and I know it's inevitable due to the nature of the shape.

Is this a deal breaker ? Am I being ocd ?

Planning to do Halo finish on a 14k white pave band

The photos will show the pear with the band. FYI this is NOT the finish product, we just out the rock on a generic band to visualize the end product.

As far as general proportions go, it looks a little too elongated to me. BUT, that is also a personal preference thing. I prefer pears that are a little on the chubbier side (because in general, the closer to a rounder shape, the easier it is to obtain great light performance). Your preference (elongated vs rounder) may be entirely different. There also may be a little bit of light leakage and/or mushy facets going on halfway between the tip and the bow-tie area. I see a spot that doesn't light up as the diamond rotates and a very slight fuzziness in that area, which can indicate a wee bit of poorer light performance. Neither of these critique-y things are deal breakers, in my opinion, but they are concerns I would have, if the diamond were for me. Pears are one of the shapes that is hard to judge and seeing it in person is the best way to judge. If you've had the opportunity to see a lot of pear shaped diamonds, you would be in a great position to trust your own eyes. If you haven't seen a lot of pears, go on a field trip and view some in other stores or online to hone your judgement.

And by the way, I don't know if you're OCD, but I do know that I am! So take my comments with a grain of salt.

Even though its a tad on the longer side, I find that it still has a pleasant teardrop shape. I would say the light return is typical for a pear.
What I like to see is facets lighting up headed down towards the pointed end of the stone, or stones where the rounded end looks closer
to a round brilliant (usually shorter stones like @natasha-cupcake mentioned.) Its hard to find these types of pears.

Make sure you look at the stone in all different lighting (outside etc).
