So, as you may remember, I had purchased the baroque Tahitian tin cup PP was offering during their Black Friday sale. The necklace was double sold, so I was offered the possibility of having another tin cup made for me. Erin has sent me these candidates to choose from: "There are 5 pearls in the necklace, so these are in groups of 5. You are welcome to mix and match if you desire. We’ve grouped the ones we think go the best together." Which ones would you choose?

I would choose all 3 pearls in the middle, and the first and last pearls of the first row in the back.

DK :))

goodness, i wish i had photoshop skillz.

assuming this setup, rows are a, b, and c from the top down, and P1-P5 going across, i'd do this:

B1, C2, A3, C4, and B5.

OR pay a little extra and do this:

B1, A1, C2, A3, C4, A2, B5

of course, i can't tell exact sizes with that photo. i'd ask for photos of what you choose before you make a final decision, as well!

If you want to stick with a set they already put together, I would go with the bottom one (closest to the camera). If you want to mix and match, any of the 3 center pearl options would be nice, depending on your color preference. (I would like to see better pictures of those 3 pearls, since only the bottom one is easy to see.) If you want to keep pointier pearls in the 2 and 4 position, I like the pair on the bottom card for their coloration and shape. For the 1 and 5 positions, I would go with the pair on the top or bottom card.

Yes, this is what I would choose as well. Very pleasing in shape and color to the eye and well matched and Erin said you could mix and match so I like that combo best.

I posted before I saw the other responses. I didn't think of DK's option. All 3 middle pearls look good (and I personally prefer that shape for a tin cup rather than the more elongated drops). A1 A3 C3 B3 A5 would look really nice.

If you prefer cooler tones, I'd do the top (furthest from the camera) row. For warmer tones, the closest to the camera row. I'm assuming they are matched in size and it's just a perspective thing that makes the front row look larger. I'd keep them grouped as PP has done as they've seen them in person and have matched them with expert eyes. Personally I like the cooler tones, but it's just because the blues/greens would look best on me.

Or, the middle 3 with the two end pearls of the top row, with the darker front center flanked by the lighter two other middles, flanked by the outer two of the back row as dk168 suggests.

All of the bottom row because of how colorful they are. They will go with everything plus I like the size of the center pearl.

+1 to this

I think I'm jealous. I had the same thing happen to me at a PP sale last year, a Tahitian tin cup, also five pearls, sold out. PP made another tin cup for me, but I didn't get to choose my pearls. Lucky you!

Another +1 for this line-up -- tho I do love the rosy-green 1st pearl in the front colorful row, maybe switch out that back row 1st pearl for this one?

Agree. Plus, I love the strong pink overtones of the front center left pearl. I have found in real life that I adore strong pink overtones in my Tahitians.

I'll add my vote for these too!

They're all pretty. I'm having a hard time deciding. Can you ask for a different picture(s), perhaps from a different angle?

I agree with the above. The problem with switching around, in your mind, is you can't see the proportions and colors of the new pattern in front of you. The row closest to us works so nicely as is, I'd stick with it.

Keep us posted and have fun!

Thank you very much everyone! Your input is very useful. Basically there are two preferred options, 1) the five in the bottom row, and 2) the three in the middle of each row, plus two more pearls. A bit of a dilemma, as I like the three middle pearls in each row, but I also really like the bottom row colours (especially the second from the left -- so pretty!)... so I have decided to, er, compromise, by getting all five pearls on the bottom row, plus the middle pearls in the top and middle rows (this involves a small extra charge, but really very reasonable), and I asked Erin to suggest a sequence with the seven. She has been super helpful, and has kindly sent me a photo of her suggested sequence, which I really like.
This is really amazing customer service, especially considering how busy they must be handling everyone's orders right now.
Now I can't wait to receive the necklace!

Update -- we switched 1 and 3 to have a better size flow.

Really nice! Now you get ALL the fantastic colours, and some nice variation of shape too. Congrats!

Edit: I was going to suggest that small change, but didn't want to cause stress.

Oh my, that will be gorgeous, love your pearl choice!

oh that is perfect! and i like that photo of the middle pearl better than the first photo - i was afraid it would be too grey. love it, you will have such a wonderful time with that necklace!

Wow! That is going to be one gorgeous tin-cup! Looking forward to more photos!

ennui -- I did specifically ask to see the pearls in advance when they told me the tin cup had double sold (I didn't expect to be offered a few to choose from, though). But, yes I am lucky -- and I am particularly grateful because I can only imagine how busy it is for them now.

The tin cup is here! I am in love with the tin cup, and I am in love with every single pearl, especially that reddish one (second from the left on the previous photos). Here's two photos. Lighting is bad -- I need to figure out a better way to photograph my pearls that's not under poor indoor lighting with my phone. Anyway, I see the colours can more or less be seen from the photos. Thanks again everyone who helped me select these pearls.
