I am looking to buy a solitaire engagment ring (round cut). I have narrowed it down to 2 stores (Tiffany''s or JamesAllen.com) and would like some input from the experts:

TIFFANY''S: .75, F, VS2 w/ platinum setting would be 6,570

JAMESALLEN.COM:

1) .82 F VS1 w/platinum setting would be 4,820
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/classic-solitaire-settings/ring/item_57-1943_design.asp?module=diamond&item=1204034

2) .83 F VS2 w/platinum setting would be 4,460
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/classic-solitaire-settings/ring/item_57-1943_design.asp?module=diamond&item=1213132

Both stones from JamesAllen.com are Hearts & Arrows. I am not sure what the stone from Tiffany''s would be. Which diamond from JamesAllen is a better value. Also, how does the Hearts & Arrows cut compare with a Tiffany cut diamond. And finally, for a solitaire setting should I consider a larger stone? Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If I could afford the $6570, I would buy a bigger stone at JA.

You'd have to get the cut info from Tiffs. Both the JA stones are great, I'd choose the larger one and save a few bucks. Saving big bucks if you don't go the Tiffany route. And I am a Tiffany girl, but want you to get the best cut and best valiue for your $$$

Welcome!

It depends on what you value more, the Tiffany name or whether you prefer to get a larger diamond for your money. The diamonds listed above look very nice.

I would personally go with JA, I'm not a Tiffany gal.

Of the two you posted, they both look nice. I would ask Jim to compare them and pick the best one.

If you wanted to squeeze a bit more size in, I'd suggest this one. You won't be making any compromises on color, promise.

Just a suggestion!

As for a solitaire setting, this is a fine size!

Based off of the information you gave I certainly see the value. With Tiffany one is paying more for the name and reputation. If that has value for the recipient that''s fine! But ultimately a beautiful diamond is no better or worse whether it comes from Tiffany, a wonderful jeweler in your neighborhood or one of the reputable Pricescope sellers.
