I am looking for a princess cut diamond in the $3,000-$4,000 range from blue nile. I prefer Blue Nile because of friend's have had very good luck and the lack of sales tax helps.

I have been looking at diamonds around 1 carat in the I-J range (girlfriend has seen some in those colors and liked the.) My only concern is with understanding the inclusions on the GIA report, I want to get something eye clean but I really don't understand how to figure that out.

My brain is also spinning on the depth and table %s. This is all a bit too much!

Would a kind soul check some of the diamonds in that price range at blue nile and give me a couple recommendations?

Thanks

What clarity grades are you considering?

I wouldn't want to go below SI1.

Well, I would prefer VS2 if only because I would be afraid an SI1 would be visible included.

Which do you think would be best?

Thanks

Unfortunately, numbers alone don't really tell you how nice of a cut it'll be (for fancy cuts especially, princess included). Nothing against Blue Nile- I've bought from them a couple of times- but they're not great for fancies because they don't even provide photos.

Would you be open to another vendor that provides more info? For example, here are two AGS0 ideal princess cuts from James Allen (but there are quite a few more trusted vendors around here):

Are you 1000% sure about the princess cut? It was popular a few years ago, but it has fallen off more recently. You can also look at cushions for a 'safer' but similar shape. Safer, because the corners on princess cuts are easily smacked about and can chip.

If you are going to buy a princess from BN, you should stick to their signature ideal grade. Unfortunately there are none within your price range above 1ct.

The 2nd one that EB posted is

You can also have GOG look at these side by side and see how they look.

That was my favorite too. Looks more like an "I" color (high J, I guess) and the cut looks really nice.

Those GOG princesses look really nice too!
