Hi all,

I’ve tried to learn as much as possible, including reading threads here, before picking the best diamond for my engagement ring. I know my price range is pretty wide but I don't mind paying a bit more if it's really better.

A) May I ask you experts about opinions on the below diamond? Is it the best out of the list of 6 other diamonds? I’m a bit concerned about the center cloud.
B) Pictures on WF and GOG look better than BGD’s. Is it just how they photograph them or they are really different?
C) I’m thinking a halo setting which consists of F-H small diamonds, should I be concerned about H color on the center diamond?

The one I reserved: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.562-h-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104074355001

1. Not sure how the pretty big cloud on the side will look

2. Not sure how the pretty dark crystal and cloud will look

3. Color G but SI1 but doesn’t seem significant issue on photos?

4. Smaller but D color, not sure about crystals in the center

5. Can’t see much flaw, am I missing something?

6. Can’t see much flaw, am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Gypsy. I have read some of your posts including the one you mentioned. I understand H&A may not be visibly better but I'd prefer to have. I also noticed you suggested Brian Gavin Blue line etc. 19K is stretching my budget pretty tight so I hope to stay more on the lower side. Hopefully, I'm not making a bad choice. Based on that, are there better options for a approx. 1.5 carat diamond?

In the 1.5 carat range, I believe you have found lovely options. Let me do a quick look see around for anything else okay?

Here are a couple I'd consider in your place:
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3057912.htm F color and eyeclean plus it has a nice idealscope.
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3260772.htm Bank wire brings this down significantly. VERY clean and gorgeous.

Of the ones in your initial post, I love this one: http://www.goodoldgold.com/ecommerce/1-63ct-g-si1-superior-round-ideal-cut-diamond.html G color and 1.6 very nice. Looks like it is very clean, just ask to make sure it is eyeclean, they will be honest with you. I'd be all over this one. And I even prefer it to the two I picked out above. :wavey:

Thanks, Diamond2014. Buying a diamond without at least seeing the photos of the actual diamond itself is scaring me. From what I've learned, location, color etc. of a flaw can impact the look of a diamond. So a SI may look better than a VS while every other aspects the same.

Thanks again, Gypsy. The inclusions in the 1st one concerns me a bit. The 2nd one, I think I like better. And yes, the 1.6 carat G color looks pretty clean. I'm asking GOG.

As I mentioned, the photos on WF and GOG look better than BGD's in general. I'm not sure if it's real reflection of the qualities.

For me it's about value. All of them are gorgeous stones. BGD's are cut to exacting standards. But the GOG stone has the best value to you. Put it on hold, there are lots of people looking for similar stones and we do get lurkers who steal.

LOL, funny how I was recommended the 1.58ct stone to iscream, but end up buying the diamond myself.

I looked all the choices you posted and I like #3 from GOG. With the small table, the stone faces up larger and looks to be eye clean is really lovely. The G color will be very white on a superior H & A MRB. The price is lower as well. Personally I would rather have an eye clean SI1 G color than a VS2 H as long as the SI1 is eye clean to your taste.

I thought you bought the one from BGD but now I see someone else did...LOL!

I also like stones with blue fl. someone has reserved this one but it is very nice as well for the price:
