I am new here, I joined this forum to research diamonds before I buy my girlfriend a engagement ring. I decided on a pave setting and am trying to pick a good diamond for it. Please let me know if this diamond looks good or if not suggest another one.

It is an excellent choice! Square cushion H&A's will provide you with the best light performance as it is cut specifically for optics.

Please do note that square cushion Brellia's will face up smaller than a regular cushion of the same carat weight. Brellia's also carry a price premium.

Are you looking just for a Brellia specifically? or are you open to other cushions as well?

Thats a beautiful stone and will make a stunning ering. With a H&A cushion such as the brellia you will get much more sparkle than the average cushion though. I I'd rather own a breilla than than modern or antique cushion myself but that said everything OMG mentioned above about being able to buy a larger one for the same money is usually true.

Thank you for the responses. I am not looking for anything too specific, if there is another diamond for around the same price I would like to take a look at it.

Whats your wish list? (size, color, clarity etc)
Do you specifically want a cushion?
Whats your budget for the diamond?
What setting will you be putting it in?
What input have you had from your GF? What has she said she likes/what is her jewellery preferences, etc.

I'll have a look for some alternative stones similar to you first pick for you but the above info would help us to give you better suggestions?

I was thinking either cushion cut or round. My budget is around $2000. I will be putting it in the 1307 pave setting from GOG.
The onlt input I have from my girlfriend is she wants something big and sparkly.

This is a modern but not branded H&A cushion, thats is the similar specs and price are the brellia above but this larger is 5.5mm square rather than 5mm.

Here is an antique cushions that is a little higher is color and clarity, bigger too but also a little more expensive.

These three types of cushions, (H&A, modern and antique) are the main options. They are all pretty but they look very different. What do you, your gf prefer? Does your gf like antique/vintage things?

Ok so big and sparkly but not antique. What did you think of the highlighted one above? It is bigger than the breillia you posted. I can't find a nicer stone for the budget that faces up as big.

I'm sure someone else with more knowledge that me will chip in about rounds. They aren't my thing and I would hate to direct you to a dud. brellia stone are the perfect half way point between a round and a cushion. You will get super sparkle but not size for your budget. Rounds and cushions are very different, its a personal thing.

It looks very nice but I kind of wanted to order the diamond from GOG since I am getting the setting there. I think I might order the diamond from my op, I just needed some confirmation that it was a good choice.

if thats what you were after then your first choice is a very nice stone!
