So I finally got my partner to go look at rings with me, and she has finally figured out what she wants. Now can you help me figure out how to get it and who to get it from?

1) the engagement ring: she wants a 5 stone 1.5 ctw ring in platinum. That part seems not too hard since that's a pretty standard style. I was looking at Brian Gavin or Whiteflash for starters. Anyone else people would recommend?

2) the wedding ring. This is the harder part. She wants another 5 stone band, with 2 diamonds (same size as the ones in the engagement ring) alternating with 3 sapphires. I'm guessing this would have to be custom? For this one I'm not even sure where to start. Help?

Anyone can do this for you, they just put in sapphires instead of diamonds.

Yes. That part is not difficult, but I would definitely keep in mind the logistics of these two rings. Does she intend to wear them at the same time on the same hand? They could damage each other.

really? Somehow I thought it would be much harder, now I feel silly. Is there anyone in particular that would be recommended?

Yes, she wants to wear them together, which I realize could lead to damage. Would a spacer solve that problem?

Spacer yes, and I would recommend Brian Gavin. I love his trellis 5-stone ring. And he can also the the alternating sapphire and diamond wedding band for you.

I would go with the same vendor for both and get the same ring styles, just swap out the diamonds for sapphires in the wedding band. And get a smaller spacer.

Brian Gavin here too. They can help you find a way to get them to fit together.

Not sure if you're a fan of the look, but you could also look at bezeling the stones. That way, the bands won't damage each other when they rub. Or you could solder the rings together once you get married, if she doesn't plan on wearing them separately. Soldering will stop the rings from damaging each other when they rub together.

Has she actually seen that combination or tried it on? Because a 1.5 ct diamond band is pretty substantial on it's own and no one here who has one wears it with a twin 5 stone band. That is extremely dangerous because it will be hard to keep the stones from hitting the other ring. Plus, I think it simply won't look right. I'd check WhiteFlash, too, for the 5 stone band.

yes, we looked at lots of styles together today and this was the look she loved. It is pretty substantial, but she has a pretty big finger (8.75) so that helps. I know it's kind of a different look...but if it's what makes her heart skip a beat....that's what she gets. :))

I think we would probably have them soldered together after the wedding, to prevent damage. She would want to wear them together all the time anyway.
