I have about ~$4k budget for the diamond alone. Leaning towards ACA now.. currently, I have selected .8 ct, F, VS2..

What do you think?

Thank you!

Are you wedded to whiteflash?

You should also check out Brian Gavin, High Performance Diamonds, James Allen... etc!

You should check out all the PS-recommended vendors to see what is available.

I am getting a Tacori setting and it just makes things easier, since they also carry the brand.

Good Old Gold carries Tacori - worth checking out!

You sure you need an F? I'm happy with my I and many go G-H

Her family (dad) would prefer if I didn't go below f. I can't find any cheaper diamonds on GoG with the same specs..

I would go with the WF ACA diamond, it will make a stunning ring.

I am pairing it with a Tacori 57-2RD in 18k Rose Gold, what do you think?

What is the difference between that one and the one I posted?

The heart at 10:00 looks a bit smaller than the other 7? + the one I posted does have a taller crown.

The .813 has a very slightly bigger spread at 6.01mm outer diameter, it has a little bit fatter arrows and smaller table. I like that one better, too.

Does the setting have to be Tacori?

No, I just like the look and little details. I'm open. Would like to stay at around 2k for the setting, 18k rose gold.

No halos though.

I'm torn between a few settings now. I feel like the setting I had picked will hide most of the diamond. what do you think of this one?

You've gotten good advice on the diamond. For settings, I like your original setting or the first one of these two. I kind of hate the second one; the prongs are WAY too chunky and blockish, especially for a diamond under a carat.

So I may be stuck with the more expensive setting after showing some options. So I might have to go down in price on the diamond a bit if possible. Will going down to a G be a good enough compromise? And maybe an expert selection instead of ACA?

This new setting will cost me $600 more so if I can save some it would definitely help.

How's this

I would definitely go down to G or lower, especially if you are setting in rose gold. Just keep the AGS certificate away from her Dad ;)

G looks icy white to me I don't think anyone would be able to tell it was lower than an F. The ring is for your fiance after all, not her father. I personally don't think an F is good value for your money, but color is a personal choice.

Regarding Expert Selection vs ACA, I think it's worth looking into the ES diamonds. I'm sure I'm in the minority for saying this but for most of the diamonds I would bet you can't tell the difference. I recall reading a thread awhile ago where Texas Leaguer (of Whiteflash) commented that most people who order online choose ACA while most people who come to see the diamonds in person end up choosing ES or even Premium Select since the differences are very minor and often not something layman can visually distinguish. I don't own any whiteflash diamonds but it seems even their ES or PS lines are very good quality.

Maybe try finding some of the ES diamonds that only narrowly missed out on ACA designation. I believe the criteria for ACA is pretty strict and diamonds are excluded for exhibiting fluorescence or less than perfect polish etc.

I love this setting!

But has she told you she wants rose gold? I'd only choose that if she has specifically said that is her top choice.

Not worth going to Expert Selection when this is only $100 or so more.

Bingo...nice setting with lovely stone! A "G" in a well cut stone (especially like an ACA) would still be very white to most people. There are some who
are really color sensitive but you usually dont have to worry about it until you get down to an "I" color.

What DS said.. that Tacori setting is definitely the prettiest so far and it is nice if your gf told you that she likes it!

I would go ACA every day for the small price difference... at the end of the day $100 is not that much of a difference when you are spending 5K+.. also, I think her dad will appreciate the exclusivity since he is so interested in the diamond color, quality, etc.

Thanks everyone for your input. Yes she really likes that setting, and Whiteflash actually suggested me that ACA G.

She does like Rose a lot, and it's either Rose or Platinum - going RG will afford me a much nicer setting over a not as nice but platinum.
