As a follow on from my last thread I would very much like to enlist your help in find the right stone from the Forum Vendors. I would like to support the people who support this forum if possible.

Between 3 and 3.5 Ct Princess cut. More towards 3 I guess due to the hike in price etc. Probably a G to J with VS1 to SI1.

Any sugestions would be helpful and Im ready to pull the trigger as soon as we indentify the right stone. I want something cut really well with lots of life...

There seems to be some pretty good prices out there.

Florida,

Though you might like to give guys here your business...your requirements are tough to fill, Phil, if you also want AGS0.

This one might to it, but they don''t patronize this site.

This one gives you your patronage and a better color, but you''ll lose a carat.

Good hunting...

Are you at all interested in going a little below 3 to get a slightly higher quality diamond? I understand that you might not want...just a question.

OK, back to PS vendors...just a less favored one.

Here's one that needs further study. It seems to be AGS rated...but its rating is unclear...worth checking out.

(edited to add...)...and just for modest perspective...here's one a bit bigger...and a bit whiter. But...owwww.

Regards,

Thank you very much, some nice pieces I will be following up on tomorrow.

Phil, one thing to keep in mind is color. With square stones, color may be more easily seen than in rounds. Also, the bigger the stone (in any shape) the easier it gets to see color. So I would caution going below say H in a princess. You need to see some well cut stones of that size in lower colors to know if it''s going to be a problem.

Phil,
That stone is a EGL Israel stone, so the J VS1 is probably a K/M SI1/2 or worse stone. Both the symmetry and polish are only rated as good, so the cut is certainly going to be poor. Also, there's no real picture of the stone, just a sample picture so I can't tell how great or terrible the diamond looks. But all in all, I'd pass on it.

You know the drill: If it's too good to be true...

This seems a hell of a deal? What am I missing???
Well, you get what you pay for. And with EGL, the color and clarity might be a lot lower than advertised. You''ve already been told that color shows up more in a princess cut, so this stone would likely show a LOT of color. You want at least very good for polish and symmetry and excellent or ideal for cut. As others have said, go with a better quality stone that is a little smaller.

Here is a nice one:

Thanks, still plowing through them all.
