PLEASE HELP ME, Find a natural blue sapphire !

I've been on a hunt! And haven't found any luck! I was looking at thenaturalsapphirecompany but their prices seems very high! & I almost purchased a blue sapphire but realized that the stone may be too dark & once it's mounted it may look black & I didn't want to risk it!

Anyway! I am looking for a natural sapphire Cushion Cut! Between 1. - 1.5 (larger is fine) but I do love the deep blue (not black) but dark blues, can you help me ? And list some of where I can find a good deal? I don't really care if the sapphire is treated as long as it's not lab! my price range is between $400-2,000 loose

How comfortable on treatment are you? You could save a considerable sum of money if you go with a diffused sapphire, which may be worth it to people who don't care about treatment. If you prefer to spend more and get a heat only or unheated sapphire that 's also an option, and one most posters here would choose. A few considerations:
1. Shop by mm size, not carat weight. I've seen 2 ct stones face up like a 1 ct stone due to the extreme depth.
2. Square cushion or rectangular cushion?
3. Please post pictures of the blue you are looking for.
4. Heat is a given. How do you feel about diffusion?
5. How quickly do you need to buy the sapphire?

I do like rectangle cushions, I don't know much about sapphires but I do know I would like a natural, not lab.

I suggest you read the thread I linked to my previous post to understand what you're buying and what affects pricing.

It looks like you're looking for a darker blue sapphire from the inspiration image. The one here is in budget, elongated cushion cut, but I wonder if it'll be too dark for a halo. http://www.gemfix.com/sapphire_blue.html#thumb (second row in the middle, 2.03ct)

HG, I think that gemfix sapphire_blue_1221(the one on the top right 2.83ct) is the darkest I will go.

It's dark and will probably look black in some lighting. Some people like those dark sapphires, so if you do, just make sure you're paying a fair price. A medium toned sapphire will cost a lot more if it has good colour.

It's already extremely dark with light shining on it to the point I'm worried it'll look black the rest of the time. If you love it, that's fine but this colouration should be inexpensive.

I think for this OP's budget, he/she can get a regular heated sapphire, and even an unheated sapphire of a carat or so. I don't think it has to be diffused. One thing to be careful of is that diffusion is not always disclosed, and the treatment states just "heat." Not all heated stones are diffused, but all diffused stones are heated, so be careful and if spending a substantial amount. Therefore, an AGL gem brief (since the budget is not above $2K), is not out of the question. It's an affordable lab report that can catch all treatment.

Totally agree that the OP could quite easily find a heat only or untreated sapphire in budget, especially since their preference seems to be dark blue. But, if someone doesn't care about treatment I think diffused sapphires are a great way to save the $.

In addition to what I bolded in your post, I think sometimes stones are sold as diffused but have had further treatment done to them. IOW, one even needs to be wary when buying diffused stones.
