I’m looking for a 2ct or greater emerald cut stone, price range between 25k-35k. I prefer longer stones with LxW ratio of 1.4 or higher. I have been looking on James Allen as it seems to have a lot of selection, is a reputable site, and they have the awesome zoom in function of the actual stone. However, I ‘ve looked at every stone on that website that are close to my specifications and I now have 12!! stones saved in my wish list . I’m sure a lot of them might not be good choices (fluorescence, clarity, cut) but I have no idea how to go about eliminating them so any recommendations would be much appreciated regarding these stones or stones from somewhere else.

I'd be happy to help you! Right off the bat, I would eliminate the 1.7 D IF. That is major overkill and 1.7 is small in an emerald cut compared to many of the ones you listed. I would want 2.5 cts minimum with your budget, and probably over 3 cts. What kind of setting are you doing to need 1.4 ratio? Also, what is your ring size?

I only looked at the stones above 2.20 because the others are going to appear so small for the amount of money you are spending. This one would be one I would ask for an ASET image for. You can request the ASET images on three stones max.

Most of these have low crowns and some have large tables. I would limit the table size to 65% or lower (I prefer closer to 60 or less). Stick with very good or excellent for polish and symmetry. Don't pick stones that have a lot of black reflected in the stone.

I personally would look at G color to get a larger stone. My preference is for lower than 1.3 ratio with a higher crown like this one:

Diamondseeker, thank you so much for your recommendation. I wear a size 6 and I'm not completely sure about the setting yet. I'd like a micropave band with possibly a halo. Of course I prefer a 2.5 ct or greater :wink2: but because I've been picky about the ratio it limits my choices. The second stone you recommended is beautiful, a good size, and on budget...but again it's the ratio. The 1.4 is just a personal preference. I like the look of a longer stone as I feel it elongates my fingers.

I think if size is your priority you can safely drop to a G color. I have stones in colors from D to J, and they are all beautiful. I have a J color emerald cut from JA myself, and I rather like it - gives it some character. I also own several G's in different cuts, and I think you'd be quite happy with a G emerald.

Have you considered calling Good old Gold and have them source some for you? They will run the ASET images and make videos as well.

I think the 2.5 f looks amazing. Would look great in a halo but agree you can definitely go to g or h. I have an I emerald that I love.
