Hi everyone! Longtime lurker just registered to seek help...dipping my toes in lab diamonds out of curiosity.

I'm looking for a round, 1 Ct or there about, ideal cut, D color and IF clarity. I'd love for it to have really nice sparkle and fire. My friend's D-F natural stones are colorless like ice but they really don't sparkle in daylight which takes the beauty of a diamond, I think. I guess balanced brightness, fire and brilliance are what I'm looking for. Is it possible to stay around $500? This will be for a pendant set in white gold. If a stone could be found for a little less, then I could shift some funds toward a platinum setting.

I've entered all these ideal %, and numbers in loosegrowndiamond site but with untrained eyes, I really can't tell one stone from the next looking at their videos.

Would really appreciate any and all recommendations.

is there a reason you want IF clarity, especially if this is for a pendant? You could come down to even SI1 and stay eye clean. For $500 do you need to stay at 1ct, or are you willing to go bigger if the clarity comes down?

Sounds like a fun project!

I agree with 0515vision on the clarity. Would you consider going down to VS1?

On Loosegrowndiamond site, I saw many with the criteria I mentioned going for low 400. I guess it's my case of having the cake and eat it too LOL. I want to layer this solitaire with other necklaces so I really don't want to go any bigger. I'm thinking for a dainty look, 1 Ct is already big?

Thank you for your response, 0515vision!

With VS1, I can see inclusions in the videos. Is it possible to go up a little to VVS?

Appreciate your time Kim N!

The videos are HUGELY magnified. 1ct is 6.5mm in real life, which is relatively small.

So true! I get so hung up on this and lose the big picture. Thanks for pointing this out, lovedogs.

@Kim N, did you have a VS1 in mind that I should look at?

Hi @srrisrri! We haven’t forgotten you! I had to check all of the following on my phone, because most of the stones in this size have possibly infected websites and my laptop won’t open the videos.

These all need to be double checked by experts since I only saw the videos on my phone. They aren’t the best best best cuts at this price range, but I think at least one or two of them might have potential. @Kim N, maybe your computer will bring up the videos?

@0515vision @Kim N I really appreciate your time looking and getting back to me with these.

Question. I used HCA for a few of the stones. Some had this grade below. Very good in Light Return and Excellent with Fire and Scintillation. Some other stones had Excellent for all 3: Light return, Fire and Scintillation. I'm thinking a score of very good for light return means it's leaking more light than a score of excellent?

Would you pick a stone with an Excellent score for all 3 factors over a score below? Trying to learn.

Again, thank a bunch 0515 and Kim!

@0515vision and @Kim N If you don't mind, will you take a look at these stones I have in this other thread also?

I'm looking to buy up to 4 stones for my project.

Thank you in advance.

Did you buy the diamond? Someone did bc it’s not available anymore.

The HCA is more of an exclusion tool than a selection tool. Anything under 2 is considered worthy of further in selection.

I’ll try to see the other thread.

Unfortunately, not in time for this one. I had to verify mounting availability for these specs first due to my urgent timeframe and couldn't get it done in time. But I did get 3 stones that Kim N recommended :)

I appreciate all your help 0515vision!
