Please help me figure out what to do with my setting!

I'm currently having my 0.64 J VS2 BGD Signature H&A set. We decided to go with their basic Stuller solitaire setting, since a couple of years down the road we will be upgrading to a 3-stone. However! I've been going completely insane the last couple of days, and due to your help in my previous thread I have come to realize that the 2.9mm shank is not a very good fit for a 5.54mm diamond. I'm currently working with Jamie to see if any metal can be shaved off, but she did say that it probably won't be much, so as not to affect the structure of the setting. So it looks like I have two options:
1. Keep the current setting and take it to a local jeweler to be altered
2. Find a setting from a different vendor, ship it to BGD and have them set it

I am so confused right now! What do you think would be a better option? And if you prefer going with an outside vendor for the setting, who makes a decent inexpensive 2mm or under solitaire?
Any help would be incredibly appreciated. I'm kind of at the point where I wish I wasn't involved in this decision-making process at all...

How about inquiring what is the thinnest size half round and thinnest size knife-edge that can be ordered?

I would actually be fine with even a 1.8-2mm setting (I've heard that much thinner gets a little tricky in terms of wear), I'm just trying to figure out where to find a good and inexpensive option in that width. If BGD will be willing to set it into a setting that isn't theirs of course.

BG could order any setting from the Stuller catalog. Maybe something like a bezel or a floating bezel (Adwar makes some of those if Stuller doesn't) would be another alternative.

Thank you, this would obviously be more than ideal - I just saw that Stuller has a 2mm shank: http://www.stuller.com/products/sh2/43812/?groupId=52134.. Hopefully they will be willing to work with me on this - I'm currently waiting for Jamie to get back to me with any possible options.

Thanks once again for your advice - Jamie just got back to me, Brian said that shaving the existing 2.9mm shank wasn't a good idea, so they placed an order for the 2mm Stuller shank: http://www.stuller.com/products/sh50/156655/?groupId=52193 ! It should reach them next week. So excited about all of this - if it wasn't for all the amazing Pricescope people who post their pictures and share their experience, I would've had a much harder time figuring this one out. In fact, I probably wouldn't have figured out the setting width situation until I got the ring, and by then the 15 day period would have been over and it all would have turned into a bit of a hassle.

And just a quick update, I've received the vendor pictures from BGD and I'm SO happy with the 2mm shank width! Here's what it looks like in the glamor shots. Can't wait to see it in person!!!
