I’m trying to decide between 2 diamonds. Both are super ideals:
2.7 H SI 1 eye clean
3.7 J SI 1 eye clean
Which would you prefer?
Thank you.

You are not giving us enough information. Please provide the diamond specs. People will have different preferences. Some will take size over anything else and others at not willing to compromise on color. All things being equal, I personally am in the first camp - the size difference between 2.7ct and 3.7ct is very significant, much more significant to me than 2 color grades.

H SI 1
8.93 - 8.97 x 5.53
57.2 table
34.8 crown
40.8 pav
61.8 depth

J SI 1
9.96 - 9.98 x 6.18
56.6 table
35 crown
40.8 pav
62 depth

Do you have the report numbers?

How much difference in price?

One more thing- this is for a size 7 ring finger. Thank you.

Are these from whiteflash? Is the si1 j eyeclean?

I prefer if you can share with us the Cert and the scope images, so from there we can give our individual opinion. ;)2

I would probably prefer something inbetween like an I-color in the low 3 carat range. All else being the same I would probably go for the 3.7 J
but I'm not that color sensitive.

I'm not color sensitive, J all the way!

Personally (could do with my age + location), however I think a 3.7 is a bit large to be carrying on a daily basis. Although a 2.7 ct isn't modest by any means, I would probably feel more comfortable with the smaller of the two.

And in regards to color, I noticed a difference between H and J and preferred the H better. (I was choosing between a 2.3 H and 2.4 J for the same price point and opted for the H).

2.7 H SI1. That's a lovely size for a size 7 finger, and very substantial. Put the extra money towards a killer setting!

Agree with the others, need more info to make a more informed decision. A video might help too as it's nice to see the "personality" of each stone and not just read the numbers.

Also, I probably fall in the minority here, but I kind of feel that bigger isn't always better. If a diamond dwarfs a girls finger I don't like that, it looks like she is trying way too hard to make a statement and I find that unattractive. Having a larger stone that looks right on the finger is more appealing to me. It sends me a message that she is secure & confident in herself but likes a little bling.

But I'm a guy so maybe I have a different opinion. Ask me how many horsepower I want in a car? I normally choose as much as possible, lol, but I'm an adrenaline junkie and like to go fast and be on the verge of out of control. Not everyone shares my sentiment. And I'm okay with that. What we prefer or like doesn't make it right or wrong, it just makes it our preference.

That said, I also prefer whiter diamonds. While I have helped people with H/I/J colored diamonds on here, I personally think H is about as far as I want to go for myself. The cavaet being if you are tetering between 1 color grade jump, then it probably doesn't matter. For me, I can see the jump in H to J and while it isn't significant it would be enough to always make me wish it was more white. Here is a color slide on the BlueNile site that visualizes what I am saying. If you don't see the difference, then you are less color sensitive than I am and that's cool.

All this said, and with imperfect & incomplete information, I'm leaning more towards the 2.7 H. If you post certs, videos, images, etc then I may change my mind.

Lastly, here are some images showing both stones (using actual dimensions) on a size 7 finger.

Depends on whether both are eye clean, you are not color sensitive and if you prefer the big rock look. Have you tried a 3.7 ish stone irl and did you like it? Also depends on the crowd you hang out with and whether 3.7 is too much...

Otherwise I typically go for the bigger rock but that’s just me,

I might hold out for an I color in between size of these 2 stones. Something in the 3-3.3 range, which would be a great compromise. I have a size 7 (really 6.75 but I prefer the extra room) - I have a 3.24 ct stone and would most definitely go larger but I would not go down to a J to get it.
