Please help me choose between these 3 diamonds

Hello,

My fiancee and I would like to buy a loose diamond from Bluenile. Bluenile does not provide ASET, H&A, etc. The only document that helps us is GIA report. I put every number based on the GIA report. I got everything is excellent, except "Spread". The "Spread" of these 3 diamonds are very good.

Are there any differences between total visual score 0.7 versus 0.9? What is "Spread" in HCA calculator?

Abby, do you have to buy from BN? It is sooo much better when you can buy from a vendor who provides pictures and idealscope images. I will also mention to you that VS1 is extremely clean and you probably cannot see inclusions with a 10x loupe. That might allow you to go up a little in size. But buying blind, I guess I'd pick the .80 G VVS since it is the largest. I'd never pay for IF clarity since VS1 and VVS are so clean.

Glad you did your homework! IF it were ONLY between those three, I'd go for the largest of the group because it has the largest spread of the three, and that is stone #2. Have you not looked at whiteflash.com for any of the stones they have there? I'm sure you'll find plenty of stones of that ct weight (possibly slightly larger) AND you get all the images. Are you limiting yourself to just bluenile? If so, there are vendors on here (i.e. ID Jewelry or Engagement Rings Direct) that may be able to access the same stones listed in the BN inventory to get you the proper imagery.

But between THOSE 3 only... #2. Largest of the three. High color (G is awesome) and high clarity (VVS; you won't appreciate anyway cuz it's too high of clarity). I'd skip the IF clarity unless that's your ULTIMATE first criteria.

@ diamondseeker2006 & @TitanCi I checked White Flash, James Allen and Bluenile. Bluenite offers the cheaper prices compared to Whiteflash and James Allen.

@Dreamer_D – Since I cannot see a loose diamond, ASET, Idealscope, etc. from Bluenie, so I play safe by choosing the high clarlity.

A super high clarity is not going to guarantee a sparkly diamond. The cut quality is what is the most important aspect of a sparkley stone. That is why people asked if you were able to buy from somewhere that could give you performance information like James Allen, WHiteflash or another vendor that provides photos and Idealscope images.

It depends on who you ask. IS and ASET are what most people on PS are familar with rather than GCAL. Is GCAL what BN uses?

HCA is a rejection tool to help people weed out possible poor performers, not a guarantee/selection tool. GIA XXX is also not a guarantee of a great performer either. From the numbers it's doubtful you'll end up with a dud, I just wanted to clarify that clarity is not a part of the measure of performance in a stone in most cases for others who might read this thread in the future and wonder.
