So my bf is about to pull the trigger on a 1.2ct RB diamond. Now we are trying to decide on the setting. I have narrowed it between these two on the WF website.

The first is the contemporary 6 prong solitaire. I like this one because it has a sleek and classic look.

The second is the Vatche Felicity setting. I like the cathedral type head to it which i feel makes it look less "metal-ly"

They are about the same price at the platinum level. I want something that is delicate and dainty that won't have the metal surrounding the diamond overtake it. I liked these two because I felt both were pretty thin. I plan to pair it with a full or 3/4 eternity. I wear a size 5.25. I am open to other suggestions as well but would like to stay in the $1200 or less range.

I know it ultimately comes down to personal preference, but can you give me your thoughts on what you think of each?

Thank you!

Hi! I prefer the Vatche's felicity because it has less angles and a more swoopy (is that a word?) feel. The modern Tiffany has more angles and corners. I have one now that has angles and corners, and I thought I would like it. After wearing it for six months, I find I want something more fluid. Just purely personal preference... :) Let us know what you pick. And don't forget the pictures!

I just went throught the exact same process as you half a year ago and posted a thread on my ring, you could do a search for my thread which has a few hand shots of the Vatche Felicity. My ring size is 3.75 and I have a 1.5 carat diamond. I also short listed the contemporary 6 prongs and the Felicity. My DH liked the Felicity so we went with that. In person, it is very dainty, even for my 3.75 ring size. Not sure if because of the size of my stone as well. I find that is has not much finger presence. The shanks are a bit too thin, and a bit a knife edge which dont know in the photos on the website. From afar, the diamond looks like it is floating on my finger and no shanks at all. I absolutely adore the basket with the very intricate prongs and it suits my job very well. I am in healthcare so I can just turn the stone around and the whole ring fit well under my glove and because it s so dainty and light, I could still do delicate work with my hands. However, I think my stone will be played up better in a more substantial setting where the stone is set slightly higher. I still havent found though a setting that i am 100% happy with so I will live with this one for a few years then see how it goes. I attach here a few photos for your reference. My band is half eternity. Good luck with your decision. Please post pix of the ring once completed.

If you like the classic Tiffany style then the Vatche U113 is a nice option. Many PSers have it and it's beautifully classic!

Yep i think fluid is a good way to describe it. I am leaning towards this one. ...

I have considered this and like the pics of all the PSers with it, but it is a bit over my budget...

Hi Daisyoz, Yes i did see your posts on your ring and I really liked it. My finger size is a bit bigger so I am hoping it doesn't look too wiry on me (and my diamond will be smaller), which maybe it will considering what you are saying about the shanks being so thin. It sounds like you think the stone sits a bit low as well.

Can you tell me what is the width of your eternity band? I saw that it was from blue nile on one of your other posts, but I wasn't quite sure which one it was? the eternity band i am looking at is 1.8mm from WF. But i also looked at BN after seeing yours. Is yours the Pave eternity?

Oh, and also I am also going to do an ACA. How do you think your eternity band diamonds compare to your ACA? I am contemplating whether I should go with the eternity from WF with ACAs to match my ering...

Thanks!

Hi, So I am now looking at the Vatche U-113 (although a bit over my budget) because I know that it is very popular on this site. And also am still looking at the Contemporary and the Vatche Felicity.

When I look at the Vatche U-113 and the WF comtemporary 6 prong, I feel like they almost look the same. I put the pics side by side below. It looks like on the contemporary that it might be a bit taller where the ring and head part meet than on the Vatche U-113.

I know you all have an eye for detail, so I am just wondering if you can help point out what some of the other differences are so that I can take them into account in my decision.

Thank you!

Hello! My band is only half eternity. The width is 1.9mm. I like to have the option of turning it around so it looks like a platinum band, also with ease of resizing as well in case my finger changes after having kids. Mine is the Platinum Pave Diamond Ring. It looks pretty sparkling to me and to my surprise it compliments my diamond very well. You made a wise choice going with an ACA, the sparkling is amazing. I would imagine ACA pave ring will be very nice as well. We didn't get it with the ering at the same time because we didn't expect to get married so soon after engagement :) .

I believe the width of the U113 is 3mm-2mm and the WF contemporary is thinner at 1.45mm-2mm which is closer to the Felicity that you are considering.
