Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forums and trying to choose a RB diamond for my e-ring. I don't trust the boyfriend to do his research and choose a quality stone on his own!

First, unfortunately he has a large amount of money on a gift certificate to Kay Jewelers  . Long story, but this was from a previous proposal when I wasn't quite ready yet. After doing a ton of research and reading these forums, I highly doubt I could find anything there at all. What would you do in this case? I there anything worth looking at at Kay Jewelers? I told him to save the gift certificate to buy something less important than an e-ring. Maybe I'm being selfish....

His budget is around 5K. I have been looking at diamonds in the .7-.8 carat range. I would love to get as close to 1 carat as possible, but realize this may not be possible with a 5K budget. I'm very picky on the cut, and a little less picky on the color/clarity. Would love to find at least a G or H, but would be willing to drop to an I if necessary. For clarity I would accept an SI1 if it's eye clean. I am set on the Legato Sleek Solitaire or the Legato Sleek Line Pave in 18K white gold (depending on how much the diamond ends up costing). I've also explored some used options, but I'm still on the fence as to whether I'm okay with having a used e-ring.

Here are some of the stones I'm wondering about:

(is it worth dropping down the expert selection instead of ACA for better color/clarity?)

If I decide to go the used route:

(I'm not sure the price is that great on that one. It doesn't say much about the condition of the ring and the stone is from 2009.)

(I don't love this setting, but the diamond seems like a great deal.)

I'm open to any other suggestions as well. I was also looking at Brian Gavin Blue diamonds...but I didn't really see any that caught my eye. Plus, the Classic Truth Sleek Micropave is a little more expensive than the Legato Sleek Line Pave.

Thanks!

I really like the first diamond you chose  It will look very nice in the legato setting.
As far as the store credit at Kay's maybe you can look at wedding bands or a diamond band to match the ring.
Gifts for the people in your wedding could also be purchased there, if you have money left over.
All I know is the whiteflash ring will surpass the Kay's engagement rings by miles! :appl:
Congratulations and best wishes to you! :wavey:

I'd ask WF about these, they're the biggest you can get for your budget. Since you're getting the setting from WF, i would highly recommend that you get the stone from there too, it's just easier on them and on insuring that nothing happens to your stone from having to be shipped more than it should/could.

Keep in mind that if you choose a stone from WF's virtual inventory that you will not be eligible for their upgrade or buy back policies if those interests you.
