Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide between two diamonds that are nearly identical in size and price and would love some advice from all the experts here.
Diamond 1:
1.74 carat J VS1
GIA
Cut: excellent
Polish: excellent
Symmetry: excellent
Fluorescence: faint
Dimensions: 7.67 - 7.69 x 4.80
Table: 55%
Depth: 62.5%
Crown Angle: 34.5
Crown Height: 15.5%
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
Pavilion Depth: 43.0%
Girdle: medium to slightly thick, faceted, 4.0%
Star Length: 50%
Lower Half: 75%
HCA: 1.4 excellent, excellent, excellent, very good
Diamond 2:
1.75 carat J SI2
AGS
Cut: ideal 0
Light Performance: ideal 0
Polish: ideal 0
Symmetry: ideal 0
Fluorescence: none
Dimensions: 7.73 - 7.78 x 4.76
Table: 57.1%
Depth: 61.5%
Crown Angle: 34.6
Crown Height: 14.8%
Pavilion Angle: 40.9
Pavilion Depth: 43.3
Girdle: thin to slightly thick, faceted, 1.8% to 4.0%
Star Length: 51%
Lower Girdle Length: 78%
HCA: 1.7 excellent, excellent, very good, very good
Has white feathers but and I can see one feather from the side view. It could be partially covered by a prong but not totally since it's too long. It's not very obvious (and would be less so when covered) but I know it's there and can find it when I want.
Is diamond 1 too deep at 62.5%. If the performance suffers because of that ... in reality, how noticeable is that going to be? The difference in clarity is 4 grades which is pretty significant. I'm trying to decide if it's better to lose a little performance (noticeable?) with a big jump up in clarity or go with the better cut and drop the clarity to one that's not eye-clean.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
