My first posting--I love pricescope-you guys are so honest and helpful--which is exactly what I need!

Ok, my 10 yr annv is this month and after looking for over 6 mths I still need major help!

I have a RB from Zales @.78 I think--anyway I want to upgrade it to a more sparkly quality diamond and stay at the same size or just at 1 carat(lets just say 12 years ago we/he knew nothing about diamonds), should I do zales upgrade program?, I would have @1600 credit towards the new upgrade I think with a budget of under/at 5,000 for the diamond. OR should I do a whiteflash a RB diamond--I am scared of the mall store thing now after reading so much on pricescope but if I can still get a good diamond there then I would love to use the trade-up policy.

WHICH WOULD YOU PICK FOR a RB setting
#1-I tried on and liked( thus leading me to PS)the A. Jaffe setting .20 melee shared prong with 2.2mm euro-band 1/2 eternity with matching diamond w-band that sits nice and flush together. RMS has this set on here and her''s is gorgeous! I think this set locally was is whitegold I tried on @ $2,300

#2 Whiteflash has a new stock setting--petite diamond engagement ring--it looks like the petite open cathedral but without the cathedral and it can take any head(love the legato and aramis heads) for @2,500 for both bands

#3 My favorite Pricescope ring--STARSPARKLE''s--I love the aramis setting with 14 aca 2pointers(7 on each side) and no scalloping on the sides of the band. No sure of the melee ctw but I love the look. She put on the legato head and I also like the basket aramis head--basically both to me are prettier than the 4 prong plain jaffe head. BUT not sure if these heads will allow the rings to sit nice and flush? I like things neat and tidy!!! I would want regular rounded prongs as small and thin as possible.

I also like the 6 prong look(what I have now) and I think its a great classic RB head and makes it look more round would this go with these settings? None of them had this--there was a micropave set on blue nile that did but it was 6 double prongs and looks like it might make your diamond look smaller?

OR any other suggestions for a great shared prong with 2 pointers and a thin band ½ -3/4 eternity style with matching diamond w-ring???

I would go with a PS vendor personally. While they will probably not take your stone in, I still think you will be getting a better value and less frustration in the long run. I would call James Allen, Brian Gavin Diamonds, HighPerformance diamonds, etc. and see what they can recommend for your budget and see if any of them will work with you on 'total package' pricing (if you buy both setting and diamond from them). I think that I like all the settings you chose, and that depending on the vendor that gives you the nicest deal on the 'package (I'm sure they can pretty much all get very lovely settings similar to those in), chose how to proceed. At the same time go to see what Zales can offer you. Leave your wallet at home or in the car when you go and make sure you don't let them hard sell you. You can always put your current diamond into a pendant and then you get TWO, if you decide to go with a PS vendor (and ask them to qoute you for that too...doesn't hurt).

And much congratulations on your ten year anniversary.

Thanks Gypsy-for your quick reply
I keep thinking too that I should go with the ps vendor, I really want a nice sparkle

Do you think the e-ring settings and bands I choose each set @2500 is about right for a 5,000 RB or is that too high? I''m such a total pkg girl, but I don''t want to overspend on the bands, yet another part of me says I know I will keep this one for a long time!

#3 and stay away from Zales. Make a nice pendant out of your current ring.

Update--My gut feelings are anwsered about the diamond upgrade-thanks-

BUT
IF anyone has time could I get some more opinions on the settings choices?
Thanks in advance for the time--I hope I wasn''t to wordy and scared you all off

Definitely number 3!!

The settings are all very similar and pretty but #3 would be my choice.

Thanks girlie girl and Ellen-
That makes #3 the overwhelming choice so far in this poll-anymore opinions?

I contacted whiteflash(playing phonetag right now)-but I am hoping to get a custom quote done so I can have some price comparsion

#3 seems to flow better overall. (Flow=Graceful in appearance)

I agree with GG, Ellen and the ricksters - 3# for me too!
