Hello,

Please help me check if this diamond has any boron/ blue nuance at all? And whether it’s type 2a or 2b.

Here’s the video. I have also attached GIA

Please help appreciate you guys!

I'm seeing blue...

I see blue but doubt it's visible irl

Yes, it definitely has blue nuance.

Thank you all!! I was quoted $4000 for this…. Is that a good price for this stone? The blue nuance really threw me off :(((

Unless you like the look of blue nuance, I would keep looking for one without it.

Interesting….. in general ( and our experience) GIA is very sensitive to the presence of blue on any non treated diamond.
Based on that experience, if the blue was perceptible, GIA would have graded the diamond differently.
Trying to use the rotating video to determine blue nuance is not definitive in cases like this.
No comment on the specific price….but in general, lab diamonds with GIA reports bring a healthy premium over IGI graded diamonds

Thank you so much for your expertise input! I preferred a GIA LGD for that reason too since it’s more strict. I’ll take a look at the stone when it comes today or tomorrow. I was told another way to check is to test it to see if it comes out as moissanite correct? Since that means it has boron, hence blue nuance?

Hello all, so the diamond arrived today and to my naked eye it’s a bit of an icy blue, a tiny bit. I’m not sure if it’s because of a D color grade that’s why it’s super white and has that icy blue reflective or it was just a blue nuance? The jeweler did test it with a moissanite tester and it did not come out as moissanite (it was a moissanite tester not a diamond tester). So does that mean there’s no boron in the stone and I shouldn’t be worried about the blue nuance anymore? Or that test doesn’t say anything about boron and whether it is type 2a or 2b. I’m new at this so please help me out. Any inputs is greatly appreciated. I like all the specs about the stone, just the blue nuance part is throwing me off…. But if it’s because it’s a D hence white like icy blue and not because of boron and type 2b, then I’m happy. Thank you all so much!! (Oh btw she also tested for fluorescence and there was none under the light)

It sounds like it's the blue nuance that's causing the icy blue. A D without blue nuance should be completely colorless.

Thank you for the input!! That’s good to know. The jeweler kept confirming that it is a type 2a HPHT because it didn’t test as moissanite (he used 2 different Moissanite testers), so according to him there’s no boron in there, hence it’s a type 2a diamond with no blue nuance. It could be that the boron is too low that made it non-conductive so the moissanite tester couldn’t detect that? I’m not an expert so I don’t know it’s just something he was firm on lol.
