PLEASE HELP! Looking for wedding band to fit low set E-Ring

Hi everyone,
This is my first post here. After doing a ton of google searching and becoming a little frustrated I ended up here. I browsed a lot of these forums and now decided to sign up and post. I got engaged eight months ago and LOVE my e-ring. My fiancé designed it himself and I love the setting. It's a princess cut diamond with a low setting - it is not raised...the setting sits flush on my finger as the band does. It has four prongs with diamonds in the prongs and around the band.

I'm having trouble finding the right band to fit it. I'm not too crazy on the "wraps" I've seen. I feel like it gives the ring a whole different look...taking away from the original beauty. This would also take away from my custom setting of diamonds on the prongs.

Currently my engagement ring is with a family friend - who works for a jeweler. This is the same person who helped my fiancé design my engagement ring. Here are some google pics I found. This isn't exactly like my ring, but pretty close. It at least demonstrates how it sits flat like the band.

My fiancé originally had this ring designed with Zooey Deschanel's engagement ring in mind. I loved her setting but with a Princess cut diamond. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a picture of her engagement ring on with the wedding band.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, Crm!!!

Congratulations on your engagement!!! Your ring is stunning!!! I also love Zooey's ring, so I really love your setting. I believe, unfortunately, that if you want a "flush fit" you will not be able to get it with the setting being what it is. I'm not sure if you are looking for a flush fit, but I just don't think it's possible with that setting since the basket is set low to your finger. I had the same dilemma with my first setting, and I have an EC. I have to say though, after awhile, I was fine with the non-flush fit, I just got used to it, and I actually prefer it now!!! It gives the 2 rings nice differentiation and I like that. Have you made your way into any jewelry stores to try wedding bands on? I think something thin that would match the diamonds in the band of your e-ring would be really nice!!! :)) Or you can even do 2 thin bands and stack them, that's a nice look too!! Also, I think in the end you would not want a flush fit wedding band, as it would rub the girdles of the diamonds you have under your e-ring basket and prongs, and that's not good :blackeye:

Thank you for replying Dani! Sorry, but what is an EC? You bring up a great point about the band rubbing the girdle of the diamonds and prongs.

Is it completely crazy to have the engagement ring setting raised? Is that even possible?

Re: PLEASE HELP! Looking for wedding band to fit low set E-R

Oh, sorry!! EC= emerald cut diamond

I don't think its possible to have the setting raised. I went through the EXACT same thing with my first setting (I have since upgraded my diamond, and changed settings). Plus, your setting is so beautiful, I don't think it would be worth it to change the whole thing! Trust me, you will get used to a non-flush fit, like I said, I actually prefer it now!!! Just get a thinner band (or 2!) and go from there. A thinner band will allow the rings to sit as close as possible, versus a thicker w-band, where you would have a larger gap. :))

Re: PLEASE HELP! Looking for wedding band to fit low set E-R

Have you considered buying a wider diamond band for your wedding ring and move your engagement ring to your right hand? Or you could have a diamond band made to fit around your engagement ring and have them soldered together so they won't slip around.

You can get a flush fit band if you go with a contour band. I'm sure your designer should be able to make one for you, although they might have to keep your engagement ring while they fit it. Good luck with your band.

Isn't a contour wedding band basically like the wrap bands?

I know that I could wear them on different hands, but it's kind of important for me to wear them together. Im very sentimental like that. And as far as the soldering together, I do like the look of two separate rings. Oh man, Im being difficult right? :twirl:

I wonder if the jeweler I work with could adjust my setting to look like this: http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?GroupSKU=GRP10062#f+1/0/0/0/0/0

The prongs are already so similar to this Tiffany's one, that I wonder if the setting could be altered a bit like this so that the wedding band lays nicely next to it.

It's such a shame because I love the diamond and the setting.

No not being difficult at all :)) I am sure there will be a wedding band out there for you, we just need to find it.

No they are actually quite different. A contour band fits behind a ring and a wrap fits over the ring. Wraps only work with simple solitaire rings with no diamonds on the side and no cathedral style shanks.
