Please help look at this idealscope image

Hello there! could you help me look at this idealscope image? I do not know how to interpret it and maybe you can tell me a bit about my new stone too.
Here are the specs.

I paid $12000 for it. did i overpaid? It was actually listed for $13500 but i found it listed on an australian website for 15300 australian dollars which converted into 11500 usd. They said they could do 12000. I am obligated to buy from this vendor because i already ordered a crushed ice cushion cut and its passed return window and actually was done being set. I changed my mind before they shipped it to me so i could use 100% fund of the cushion towards this one. Sorry for the long post but hopefully you can take a look at this one and tell me its worth to have.

Well, that image is just a magnified image, not an idealscope. But, I actually found more photos of your diamond online. I went to enchanted diamonds to see what similar stones were selling for and I found the exact stone you purchased. They had it listed for $11,130, so you know whoever sold it to you is making a little extra money off you, but what can you really do if you are obligated to buy from them. On the bright side, I think the images of the stone look quite good, and it should be very pretty.

Thank you for that information. The credit card price on enchanted diamond is $11520 so I overpaid quite a bit. I knew the jeweler was taking advantage of the fact that I had to buy from him. Not nice. In fact kinda shark of them. I am disgusted but there's nothing I can do. Maybe I will send them an email. It is since1910.com that took advantage of my vulnerable situation.

On the other hand, do you think this stone is worth having at $12000?

They advertise a price match guarantee pretty hard on their website it looks like, though it says that you have to request it prior to purchase. Sounds like you tried to do that and they wouldn't honor it. Too bad you were already stuck with that vendor, as I think it is pretty poor to advertise a price match "promise" to meet or beat a price and they wouldn't do it for you. Perhaps you can speak to them again about it and share with them that you were advised to do so on an online forum where you were discussing the situation. I can see your frustration, but also can see why they don't have to go out of their way as your return window was already passed.

I think I am going to do that. I actually have to pay another $500 to have the simon g. setting modified to fit my new stone but I understand why it costs that much. Maybe it is inflated by them who knows. I found that australian website so they said if I factor in shipping charges and conversation rate it is about $12000. I didn't know about enchanted diamond then.

Although my return window has passed, they still do have that 100% upgrade policy whereas they would buy back your diamond at the purchase price as long as the upgrade costs twice as much. That applies to a USED stone. My is brand new. I just changed my mind.

I wouldnt recommend this vendor. They are taking advantage of me and I have no choice but to buy the stone from them. However this would be my last time buying from them and they can consider it a loss because this is not going to be my last stone.

I do believe that a good vendor would go out of their way or at least honor their policy regardless of the situation. This vendor is pure shark. They knew I HAD to buy from them so they ripped me off blatantly. They listed it at $13500. They said because I am already a customer so they would go down to $12000, like they did me a great favor. I knew they were BS-ing but I didn't know that another US vendor is having it listed at $11500.

$500 is really very little. A 5% price difference between vendors is acceptable IMO.

Also using the Diamonds search you'll see that Solomon Brothers has it for sale @ $13949 while BlueNile has it for $11470. That's a $2500 difference for the same stone so you can see prices vary. Given that the vendor took your original stone back and after it was mounted without a service fee I think they have been quite fair. If nothing else you could consider the $500 a return fee on your original stone which IMO is still quite fair.

That still sounds reasonable.
To be fair, had pfunk not raised it up, would you have known that it could be had at a slightly cheaper price?
And different stores have different policies, overhead, brand power etc. which comes into play when they set their prices.
Granted they have price matching policy, but that's before a purchase. Your situation is a bit different.
Will I be upset if this happens to me personally and wish they can be more lenient? Of course.
Do I think they are being unscrupulous and totally unreasonable? Not really, esp since there are more dangerous minefields out there when it comes to purchasing diamonds.
You can always try negotiating with them nicely and see what happens.
Never hurts to try.

I am actually more curious on the bubbles/circles at 1 o'clock (crown) & 12 o'clock (pavilion) shown on the video from Enchanted Diamonds. What are those? Water droplets?

I saw the droplets too and am guessing they are water drops. Must have steamed it for the video but got some water on it that the camera shows.

Could someone take a look at the images and tell me if it is ok? I asked the vendor to send over an idealscope image and they said he cutter didn't supply one. I see it's listed on enchanted diamond. Is there a shady reason why this vendor lied to me about it? Thank you.

Hi,

The "Idealscope" image on ED looks more like an "arrows" image. So your vendor may not necessarily lie about it, just difference in the terminology used. IS image usually shows the arrows in dark colour (black). ASET image can be a more useful tool anw in determining the light performance, provided it's taken/used correctly. ASET image looks good.

I received the ring and I am hugely disappointed to say the least. It was poorly executed. I paid $500 for the modification of the halo but looks like they didn't do anything to it. My stone covers part of the side stones, the right side of the halo is more rounded than the left. What should I do in this situation?/
The first pic is what I received from since1910.com and the second pic is what I was supposed to receive.

Hi I'm sorry to hear that!
Maybe try to contact them to politely voice your disappointment.
See how they respond (having an idea of how you'd get it rectified would help too).
I did a bit of reading on this recently.
Apparently is not too uncommon to have setting not done perfectly.
But you'll wear the ring for a long time I presume, so it's not a good feeling to look at it everyday knowing it isn't perfect.

(Makes me wonder how reasonably "perfect" we can expect our setting to be...)
