Dear PS friends,

Now that I have settled on pretty Miss Sunny (see prior thread: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ssible-leibisch.172089/#post-3131549#p3131549) I have to think of the setting. I want a marguerite design like the antique one below, and to reuse 25 pointers I have laying around doing nothing. The proportions center/halo are almost exactly those in the pic.

A few questions:

- The halo prongs: YG or WG/plat (the center stone prongs would have to be YG, of course). I think the shank should be YG to keep the antiquey look.

- What about a bezel around the center stone? Maybe I have visited Tiffany's too much lately, but I do like their bezeled yellows.

- Finally, anyone you could recommend in LA, where I will be for less than 3 weeks (so it would have to be someone who works fast.)

- Any other ideas, suggestions, comments?

Thanks! :wavey:

Love the design! I would go with platinum prongs on the outside diamonds. And I like the idea of a YG bezel around the center stone. Lastly, I'm not sure of this, but I think Victor Canera is in LA. He's a darling of PS nowadays of course, and I've heard he works very quickly. Good Luck! :wavey:

You have beautiful taste and I love the ring in your avatar!

So yes, Mimi, YG bezel and plat prongs for the halo. Your opinion confirms mine... And thanks for thinking of Victor. I just emailed him for a quote. Look at this design of his: http://www.victorcanera.com/the-lynn-art-deco-halo.html
Though of course I prefer my stone and my design. ;)

Thanks, April! My avatar is a Boucheron design (Cinna Pampilles collection). The main stone is an emerald, the halo emerald, tsav, yellow sapphire and diamond. What more can a girl ask for?

But when Miss Sunny is all set, it might become my new avatar...

Is Singlestone also in LA? I would try them as wel for price comparison.

I love the idea of a YG bezel and then plat. or wg prongs on the halo. I also agree that I'd make the shank yg. It's going to be yummy! I think between VC and Singlestone, you'll be in good hands! Can't wait to see this beauty when it's complete!

Thanks, Sarah and Yenny! Indeed Single Stone is in LA, and I sent them an email. They specialize in vintage rings, so they may be the best to make the ring I have in mind.

I will keep you posted!

Victor Canera (very prompt response) tells me he accepts third-party center stones, but not third-party side stones. :(
That leaves Single Stone... I wonder if they have the same policy.

doesn't hurt to ask

I did, and apparently it is not a problem at Single Stone. But what is a problem is the backlog: 6 to 8 weeks to make a ring, which doesn't work for me.
So either I find someone else who could do it pronto, or I have the setting done in London or Paris.

OK, now it seems that Single Stone might be able to do it within my time frame, but the quote is about twice :$$): what I got elsewhere. Since I want a very simple, plain setting (no milgrain, pave, ornate stuff...) I am not sure the difference is worth it.

Of course I understand that a rush job is going to be more expensive. Yet I am not sure it's worth twice as much.
