HELLO EVERYONE!

I promised myself I wouldn''t join and now look!!! I will begin a NEW OBSESSION! DIAMONDS! I have a general enquiry here, any help would be greatly appreciated...and please note, I AM LEARNING!!

okay, so I am looking for a diamond....for an ENGAGEMENT RING(please remind me not to go through with it later..LOL)
I have visited a few places and have come across something that sounds a little bad but was surprisingly pretty...

Carat: 1.52
Colour: H
Cut: GOOD
Clarity:I1
PRINCESS CUT

I know an I1 isn''t that great but it wasn''t bad, there were many HUGE noticeable inclusions for some reason, now here is the BIG question, CAN ANYONE PLEASE GIVE ME AN IDEA GENERALLY on how MUCH this stone could be without all the specifics....I was told 6,500 CANADIAN DOLLARS....is this anywhere near right? Honestly it is a pretty stone and has a brillian shine, I''m TORN, I don''t know what to think!

SOMEONE PLEASEEEEEEE HELP!!!!! PLEASE!!!!
(lets hope my boyfriend doesn''t see this, hes gonna FLIP)

ANY ESTIMATE ON PRICE? In canadian dollars? or USD, I''ll convert it in my head! hahahahha!

<-----------SOOOO CONFUSED!

PLEASE HELP!! DIAMOND CRISIS!

A quick survey on the data this website provides shows an average per carat cost, retail, for an H I1 Princess to be about 2500 USD. This was for a middle of the road cut.

When you say "good" cut, can you get more specifics in terms of data. Is this stone certified?

Hiya!

Please stay clam, relax and do not panic.

Probably I'm misunderstanding a point you made: ''there were many HUGE noticeable inclusions for some reason'' --> and you still want it?

I mean, I 1's can be somewhat pretty and are amazing values, if you don't care for the slightly eye-visible inclusions. Are you sure you don't want let's say a 1.20ct stone in SI 2 clarity? As I said, I 1's can be great if you know what you're getting.

You haven't mentioned any report... Is it certified? By whom?

I don't know exactly what a 'good' cut means without having additional details... Is it thick/shallow? Large table? Can you get some more info?

That said, a fairly nice, properly graded I 1 H-color stone should cost about 3.5 to 4K (US $) on the net, so I'd say at least 4-5K at a B&M store.

So a total price in Canadian Dollars (before all of your wacky taxes) for a stone of this size COULD be about 5,000 Candian Dollars, retail.

Of course, this all depends on the cut quality. I would also suggest slighty smaller, perhaps less included.

HOW EXCITED AM I? already responses from 2 very nice people! YAY! okay, what I meant to say was "there were NOT many inclusions" infact it was a very pretty stone that did not have many inclusions visible to the naked eye! As for certification....hmmm, can we all tell I know nothing? I will call the place tonite and ask!! I'm all crazy excited about this...STOP ME!

thanks alot for the replies by the way!! GREATLY APPRECIATED!

As long as you pay properly for the I1 & it's fairly clean to you, it could be a good buy. Make sure you look at it in all lighting.

But, as mentioned do your homework first.

This was very funny!

I reccomend not buying the first stone you look at.

Looooookkkk around some and see what you think. This is not the best impulse buying arena.
