After talking with the normal vendors that pop up on this forum, I have picked GOG to do my initial search on a 4 carat RB diamond that I discussed in an earlier thread.

here is the video that Jonathan did on 3 stones he was showing me- http://www.vimeo.com/12032305

Here are the 3 stone certificates-

Now I can see that the second one is cheaper by $20K. It is not H&A, not even close. BUT my question is, how much fire/scintillation/sparkle less than the other stones? My wife who does not know about H&A and is not a PS reader, would she be able to tell the difference between the stones?

Thanks.

It's not H&A, but in the video, Jon was pretty much saying it is a better performer than the G. The price difference is probably in the color grade, not the cut.

WOW what a lucky wife you have, and what a great husband you are!!!!! i think you should talk to my FI about sparkly gifts!

anyway in all seriousness. this is a really good situation where using the cut advisor is helpful. so i took the pleasure of plugging in the numbers for you.

i would pass on the first, it returned something like a 3.5 or something, and you want a stone that returns a score below 2.

the second 2 look really good. the second is slightly larger than the third, so i''m not sure if you had a goal in terms of diameter. if your wife doesnt know/can''t tell the diff with the H&A thing, i would go for the cheaper one lol. as a non-expert, i can''t tell the difference :)
