I know this is not an 'ideal' cut, but... I'd like to get some opinions on this. Should I purchase it?

GIA Certified

This diamond is being offered to me for $10K even. Am I getting a good deal? If so, how good? If not, how much should I offer for it?

Unfortunately, yes. Not the greatest proportions but I guess that''s why the stone''s cut is GIA rated VG instead of Excellent. I understand the ''ideal cut'' diamond snobs aren''t going to be to happy with a stone like this. That being said, is this a good VG Cut stone for the money?

if you want a 1.5ct ''f'' color stone for around 10k you have to sacrifice somewhere.
have you seen the stone?

Yes, I have seen the stone. It''s a very very clean SI1 which I really like. Most of the SI1s that I''ve seen have been on the low end of the SI1 scale.

Well, since you''ve seen it, how did it look? As you know, the table is definitely on the large side and it''s definitely shallow cut, but some stones simply look better than their cut grade and certificate say they should. On the other hand, the opposite is true as well. You have to remember, are you buying the certificate or the diamond? I don''t know many people who go around wearing GIA or AGS certificates! Compare the stone to some ideal cut stones. If the diamond looks good to you and you''re comfortable with it - buy it!

It''s a spready stone and the price is in line. Have you seen enough stones to know if this one speaks to you? If so, then it could be a real sparkler. Also, have you seen it in several different lighting conditions?
