Ok. I am new here, so still trying to figure out the etiquette and logistics of how all of this works... I hope that I am posting under the correct forum, topic, etc.

My boyfriend and I will be engaged within the next few months (we are currently living in different states, but he is moving here in July). I have started to research ring styles, so that I will be ready to shop when the time comes!

There are several styles that I love. Here are some examples of settings that I am currently responding to...

The problem is that I cannot find (anywhere!!) who made these rings, or rings like these... so I am thinking that the only way to get what I am looking for is to have the setting custom built.

I have not yet researched the expense that goes into having a setting custom made, but I do know that I have come across some really great deals on buying diamonds loose online.

The aesthetic qualities that I am partial to... I love modern looking rings, but I do not like the heaviness that sometimes goes along with that style. I love the older, thinner platinum settings. So I am looking for some sort of a balance... I think that the clean lines and angles are what I am responding to here. I''m not married to the idea of using sidestones, if I see a setting that uses a solitaire in a unique (and at the same time elegant) way.

If anyone knows of any vendors selling settings with similar attributes, please let me know! Thank you very, very much!

I would suggest contacting Leon Mege at Art of Platinum. If you haven''t seen his website get ready for a real treat. He had also made several rings for Pricescopers. You can see them here. I believe the yellow gold pave one you posted is cartier or harry winston..a big name designer anyway..

That yellow gold setting is amazing. It''s funny ... I''m usually more attracted to the solid, smooth metal settings.

I have heard that it is a Harry Winston, but cannot find it online anywhere (including his site). Seems to be my luck with everything that I find!

Thanks for the info ... I''ll check it out.

Thank you much!

What do you guys think about using two asschers as sidestones for an oval? I have never seen it done before, but I think the contrast of the rounded stone with the square ones would be interesting...

I have 1ctw asscher earrings, and was looking at them today, thinking...

Bullets would probably be better, no?

Bethany - I also think the yellow gold setting is a Harry Winston. I did a google image search and that ring did come up, but on a chinese website. It said Harry Winston and "emerald-cut ring", "in a fancy yellow pave ribbon design". Don't know what the chinese writing said though! I know I didn't see it on that website before though. I've looked through the Harry Winston site a few times today (like I said - driving myself crazy) and I can't find it either. Hmmm...weird...wonder if I saw it posted on Pricescope or something? Maybe you could call HW and ask? I wish I could help with the other rings you posted, but I don't think I've seen any of them.

As far as the oval with asscher sidestones, I so wish I could be of help, but I am not confident with giving that sort of advice yet!!! I hope someone else chimes in with their opinion.

Let us know if you find out where those settings come from!

Yes, I think I may have gotten the image from a post on pricescope, but I can''t find it again!
