I''''m a diamond novice trying to pick a diamond pendant necklace I''''ll like. In the past, I ordered a Princess H/SI 0.75 ct pre-set pendant from BlueNile but didn''''t find it brilliant enough.

I''''d be extremely grateful if the experts here could give me advice on the following:

1. I love the Princess and pear shapes but have heard that round is generally more brilliant and looks bigger. Is that true? And is there another shape I should consider?

2. Given that I know little about hearts and arrows etc., what should I do to get the most brilliant cut/stone? Does a WhiteFlash ACA guarantee a brilliant cut or would an ES be enough? Also, what do you think of the BlueNile Signature Diamonds? Are they overpriced?

3. What setting is best to maximize brilliance and perceived size?

Thank you very much in advance!

To maximize size, I''d get a bezel or a halo pendant. WF has this halo pendant which I love link

BGD also has their Barbara pendant which is beautiful and timeless. link here

You can''t go wrong with a WF ACA or a BGD Signature Diamond. But before you buy, post the diamonds you are debating on in Rocky Talky and the PS diamond experts will chime in to help you decide!

I agree with the PP on everything they had to say....i would also add in that personally i think BlueNile is expensive and i dont' think you get what you pay for. I would also check out GOG diamonds.

you should really have posted this is rocky talk- they can help you better find a diamond there. I would message an admin and ask them to move it for you....you will get more responses.

I would highly recommend the Barbara pendant from BGD. They can help you find an amazing stone and any size stone looks beautiful in this delicate pendant.

Are Bezel pendants, or those in which the diamond is in line with the chain, more likely to spin and face the wrong direction than a pendant that is hanging such as a 4-prong hanging basket pendant that hooks to the chain in two places?

WF and BGD are the places to check with. Call them and see what princess cuts they have in house that are in your price range. Being that a pendant is worn on your neck you are able to get away with lower color and clarity and not have it noticeable. I bought an M colored stone for a pendant and although you can see the color when it''s not being worn, once it in on the neck it looks as white as my G pendant.

WF or BGD don''t carry stones in the lower colors but I am just saying don''t be afraid to get an I or J.
