I had a local jeweler set diamonds I purchased online into Stuller martini settings.

Do the prong look too short? I feel like they should be a little longer and cover the top of the stone more.

Thanks!

No, they are not too short. The main thing is that the diamonds are seated in the prongs and the top of the prong is folded down to touch the stone.

Thanks for your reply diamondseeker!

I think that the reason I thought the prongs look too short is because they look different from the prongs I had on my old studs (which were a rounded bead). My old stud's prongs were more prominent. Are these prongs "tab" prongs?

On the close up profile view, it seems like the tip of the prong does not hug the diamond as much as I would expect.

My old stud's prongs were more like this where the tip of the prong seems to sit flat against the stone.

These prongs seem like this (maybe not this extreme), but the tip does not seem to sit flat onto the stone.

My jeweler is closed today, but I wanted to get opinions/advice before I speak to him tomorrow. If the stone is properly seated, is it possible to change the tips of the prongs? When I run my finger over the prongs, they feel rough and I worry they may catch on clothes or masks. Could prongs like this be rounded or made more like beads?
