I''m re-posting this. I have to return this thing in 8 days if I dont want it.

I paid $7k. It has an EGL Cert. The below specs from the EGL cert which are definitely inflated.

The diamond is likely an FSI2, at best.

The cert says this:

1.51 ct
EGL Cert
7.48 X 7.42 X 4.48
Premium Cut
Color: D Clarity: SI

Total Depth: 60.1%
Table Width: 57%
Crown Height: 13.1%
Pavilian Depth: 44%

Girdle: Medium/Faceted
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry Excellent
Culet: None

Flour: Slight Blue

It is eyeclean (enough for me). Has some good flashes, very white, sparkly. Not sure about it''s "Brilliance".

Any opinions greatly appreciated. I can still return it.

Thank you.

Do you have the crown and pavilion angles? Is it really eye clean? Is the price in line with an F or G SI2 or I1?

I dont have the crown or pavilion angles.

I don''t know the exact definition of ''eyeclean''. If you look really closely, in bright light, you can see inclusions, but most are hidden in the facets.

I think the price is low due to cut quality. But I think that''s a good idea to compare it to the price of an F or G SI2 or I1.

Thanks

Hi David!

From your post, it appears as though you are not 100% happy with this diamond. Since you are still able return it, my suggestion, given that you are not happy with it, is to do so, however, if you want to know what else is out there before you do so, what is most important to you? What would you like to see? Is not being able to see inclusions, period, something your girlfriend would want or as long as she doesn''t see them all the time, would that be okay?

Based on the % numbers you provided, this diamond does score 1.9 on the Holloway Cut Advisor, which means that it is a Brilliant Ideal Cut ... which, in theory means that because it is shallower, it has more light return. Crown/Pavilion angle info would give you a more accurate score, however, since you don''t have those, the %''s you provided are sufficient.

I found some "options" on Whiteflash.com you may be interested in considering. ... I will post links for you, in case you are interested.

1.312 H SI1 A Cut Above
1.51 H SI1 Expert Selection
1.54 E SI1 Expert Selection -- There is a cloud and a crystal inclusion on the table for this one, however, since those tend to be "white" inclusions, they are not easy to see, thus this diamond, hopefully, would be "eye clean"... Whiteflash would be able to confirm. The 40x mag pic looks clean.

If you have some particular criteria in mind, let us know and we will see if we can find you something you may be happy with ... Good luck on your search or ... if you decide to keep your diamond -- congrats! Enjoy it!

To be very truthful, I''d rather have one of the stones Sparks posted for you. But you know your girlfriend better than we do, and whether the inclusions would bother her.

Thanks for the posts/links.

I give her the ring on Monday, if she doesn''t love it, I''ll return it and check out stones on WF.

You''re welcome ... Good luck to you!

Take it around to jewlers who carry branded stones like Hearts on Fire, etc, and AGS0 stones. Do a comparison. If it doesn''t hold up to those, return it, because you can definitely get superb quality online (or local with AGS0''s). There''s just no reason to "settle".

Bear in mind for the price you paid, you might have to go for a smaller diamond if you change it, or up the budget, just a thought.
