Ask them for a picture! It is very important to see the diamond no matter the specs!

at least! Video if possible! Or if they can send it to a local jeweler so you can see it before you buy it. From the stats it looks pretty good, but I'd still see it first.

Nevermind. That's HK $. :)

I frankly love it.

It is a GIA Ex and an HCA score under 2. I love the short lower girdle halves because it will be super chunky, especially in that carat weight. Medium Fluor is not an issue for performance. With a GIA report and these proportions I don't think you need photos or video, not for a D VS1.

Food for thought: You are paying a lot for that color and clarity, be sure you are choosing it because you LIKE colorless and VS1 not because you think it will affect beauty in some objective way (it won't).

I guess it's personal preference, but spending that kind of money, I'd want to see a picture at the least! Good luck with buying, hope you come back with pictures of that gorgeous stone!

Blue NIle doesn't offer photos or any other information, its not their business model and its how they keep prices low.

Wow that sucks! I would never recommend buying a diamond without seeing it! I was just reading a thread from earlier this year from someone who bought a diamond without seeing it and was beyond disappointed with it.

Geminian - You asked for comments, and that's mine. Just because it has a big price tag doesn't mean you should just buy it blind folded. I am well aware of the stats and am even a GIA Alumn but I would still NOT suggest buying it without at least a picture. I'm sure that even though Blue Nile may not do this, for a purchase as big as yours, they would have to accept your request. Anyone knows it's just bad business to say "we just don't do that". Good luck with your search!! and if this is the one, I hope you absolutely love it!

But the OP can return it if she doesn't like it after seeing it in person, right?

Of course every consumer needs to choose a vendor who has a business model and practices that suite them. BN works for people who want to pay pretty much the lowest prices on the net (though some vendors can approach their pricing, but with smaller inventory I think) and who are ok with simply returning the diamond if they do not like it.

BN are a drop shipper of most of their inventory, meaning the diamonds are not ever in their possession, so they cannot offer photos, full stop. Some of their wares are supposedly in their possession, and this might include the signature line, but even then history tells us that the information available is minimal.

I offer this information not as arguments about right and wrong, but as information for consumers about the way BN does business. They are each then free to make their own informed choices.

Really? That's different. I saw the .hk, so I thought it was written in the HK dollar, too.
But either way, I couldn't help myself, and I searched up JA's inventory of D/VS 3+ carat… and everything's pricier. :errrr:

OP, if you buy this diamond, PLEASE come back with photos :wink2:

I agree. I had forgotten about the 30 day return policy. I suppose that's possible and it's one of the longer inspection periods that I've seen. But yes, to each their own! :)
