I found this band on ebay and it is gorgeous. However at 3.3mm wide and a size 6.5 with 27 stones I dont know it could be 4 carats? Thoughts?

Ebay item # 120542552958

DESIGNER : Un-known High-end designer

METAL COMPOSITION : Solid Platinum

HALLMARKS : Plat 6713 and designer trademark

MEASUREMENTS : 3.3 Wide

WEIGHT : 4 grams

SIZE: Size 6.5 (6 ½)

** THE DIAMONDS **

DIAMONDS : 27 natural earth mined diamonds

CUT : Asscher cut (square emerald step cut)

COLOR : D-E colorless

CLARITY : FLAWLESS IF-VVS1

CARAT WEIGHT : 4.05 Carats

I''m not sure I understand the question but divide 27 into 4.05 and that makes them 15 point diamonds, which seems about right.

4.05 ct / 27 diamond = 0.15 ct per diamond

I was trying to read the logo but you can''t really tell. Who do you think made it?

Lovely ring by the way.

They do not state that they are .15 stones. I am saying I dont believe that the total carat weight is 4.05. For example: On the facets website they have bands with 26 stones that equate to about 2.6 carats and that are 3.8 mm wide. The math isnt adding up to me. How do 27 stones fitting into 3.3 wide and at a size 6.25 equal 4 carats?

I am too scared of ebay... but then I am not up on all that new fangled stuff

From the facets website:

Platinum Channel-Set Eternity Band, 24 Asscher Cut Diamonds, 2.48ct. tw. E-F color VVS-VS clarity
All of our diamonds are ideal or premium cut. The ring is 3.8mm wide, size 5.5 (for other sizes see below).

Yes, after doing some rough math, I agree with you.

A size 6.5 ring has an internal diameter of 16.92 mm. Let''s be generous and say the band is 3mm thick, that would give this ring an outside diameter of 16.92 + 3 + 3 = 22.92. Multiply this by pi to get the outer circumference of the ring, roughly 72 mm.

Divide 72 by 27 and each diamond would be about 2.6-2.7 mm wide. That''s closer to 10 points each for a total carat weight of 2.7.

teaches you a lesson about ebay: I got this response after the auction ended --

"We have precisely calibrated the diamonds and extrapulated the results based on formula, asscher cut are quite a bit heavier then the standard square cut diamond. Thank you"

What question was that supposed to answer??

I asked them to please tell me how they came up with 4.05 carats since my calculations based on the size of the ring, the number of stones and the width of the ring didnt add up to 4 carats but more like 3.
