I’m getting a Paraiba tourmaline ring that was made by David Klass, and he sent me the pics of the completed ring. I approved the pics, but after studying them more closely, it seems like some of the Paraiba melee appears dark in the pics. Can anyone tell me what I’m seeing is just an artifact in the pics, or is some of the melee indeed darker? I emailed him about my concern, but while I wait to hear back from him, I’d like to get some opinions.

IMG_7537.jpg When I blow up the picture, it appears the melee have variation in not just tone, but hue as well. Some are greener, and some are bluer. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as they are tiny stones, and when looking at the entire piece at arms length, it may not be noticeable or unattractive. It's really hard to find uniform color in melee for rare natural stones.

I see what you are describing- but agree it may not be that noticeable in real life.
Did you source the melee - or did DK?
If he did- were you given a choice of quality levels, per se?

Regardless- I think it's lovely.
Please be sure to return with your own hand shots!

I guess it will look beautiful in real life with the variation in tone and hue. The stone between 6 and 7 o’clock looks ‘dead’ though. It’s good to have this checked by David upfront.

It’s a beautif design with beautiful stones!!!

Thanks for your input, Acinom. I think it will look good in real life, but I have some doubt. I really wish I would have bought the Paraiba melee from Yvonne because she really does have nice stones. I haven’t heard from DK yet, so hopefully he has comes up with a solution if there is a vast difference between the stones.

I do love the design of it, so hopefully it looks good. He came up with a great design for the gallery too. Here’s a few more of his pics.

I really like that gallery design too!
I think it's great that you are willing to check it out in person. then you can proceed, if necessary, from there.
