There is a nervous wreck lurking just beneath the surface here.

I gotta be strong today for my 19 year-old daughter as she heads into surgery today. She & I will be home together for the next week or so as I nurse her back to her splendid recovered self. It should be a routine procedure, but ... you know how it is- I''d rather put myself on the table than have to sit and wait while she undergoes the surgery!
I''ll be glad when this is behind us!

At least I get to spend some time with her. She has clearly flown the nest and it''s nice to be needed for some mothering.

Know just how you feel -- a year ago my 10 yo went into surgery with a rupturing appendix -- I was a wreck and I made life H_LL for the surgeons and anesthesiologist too (not on purpose, but she was writhing and screaming in pain and I basically stood there and shouted at them to get her anestheticised and into surgery -- NOW!). I was worried I''d never see her again.

So -- soothing vibes to you and healing vibes to your daughter. I know what you''re going through as a mom and you''re right -- ya gotta be strong for her. This will pass and she will be fine.

Your support is heartwarming and helps me so much!
My sweet girl is such a trooper. She handled everything with grace. The surgery was delayed, and it made for a very long day, but she was great.
She is now fully awake and bouncing back beautifully.

I did the typical mom thing - I was soothing, calm, encouraging when I was with her.... but every time I stepped away I totally flaked out!
When hubby was making a sandwich run, asking what do you want? I gave him a blank look and said I am not hungry. Then he forced the topic, so I said turkey. He came back with 2 different turkey sandwiches and I asked why? He said "so you pick which one you like". I was just incapable of communicating!

Anyway, daughter is fine, so of course, Mom is RELIEVED and happy to be playing Nurse for the next coupla days.

She''s a good sport. She teased me a little about the new ring from Quest- telling me repeatedly "that''s REALLY nice, Mom"..."Let me look at that again!"...."Mom you REALLY know how to pick out a ring!".....
