Hello,

I have been looking for a ring for myself. It does not mean that I am getting married or engaged but I just wanted to have something for myself because my birthday is coming up. My body frame is petite, so are my hands, and I prefer a rather simple design with better quality instead of being voluminous. My original budget is $1000 but I can add a few extra couple of hundreds, if the product is exceptionally good. (I am specifically talking about Hearts on Fire. The size of each diamond will be pretty small. But does Hearts of Fire mean that it will be a lot more sparkly than other stones, such as the ones carried by Tiffany's?) I am open to other suggestions.

Following some people's suggestions (and my preferences, of course) I narrowed it down to the following options. I'd appreciate your advice!

1. Tiffany Bezet Round Ring $1390 (http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=GRP03960&mcat=&cid=&search_params=s+1-p+1-c+-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+Tiffany+Bezet+Round&search=1)

2. Atlas Ring $1500 - way over my budget but I just want to throw it in (http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=GRP03241&mcat=&cid=&search_params=s+1-p+11-c+-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+atlas+diamond&search=1)

3. Tiffany & Co. Band Ring $925 (http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=GRP05172&mcat=&cid=&search_params=s+2-p+3-c+-r+101607567-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+band&search=1)

4. Hearts on Fire Single Prong Milgrain Band $1590 - way over my budget but I just want to throw it in (http://www.heartsonfire.com/shop-jewelry/rings/wedding-bands/diamondbarsingleprongmilgrainband.aspx)

If you move this to Rocky Talky, more people will see it & be able to give you some help.

Both Tiffany's and HoF have a hefty brand premium. You can get a beautiful, delicate diamond ring likes the one you linked for a lot less from other vendors who also deal with ideal cut stones.

I LOVE # 1 and 3!!

Great taste!!!

To get the most bang for our buck, I definitely would not go to Tiffany's. You will pay for the marketing, all the salespeople, and the store, not just for your jewelry piece. The best bargains can be found in estate/antique pieces, but that takes more work, and some people want a new piece.

As for HOF, you are also paying for the brand name. You can get well cut diamonds with the brand name. I would suggest reading some threads on Rocky Talky.
